Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
Hey all my first post here, just looking to get into pedal modding as a first step into hacking and making pedals and other useful gear. So as a first shot I'd like to try a re-house for one of my pedals and try and make it a bit more useful, well for me. Has anyone ever rehoused a Dano Rocky Road in a wah/volume type pedal? set up so the foot pedal adjusted the speed of the rotation effect? I like the idea of making the variation easier to accomplish as well as allowing rapid variations in...
Anyone know of any mods for these pedals?...Mine's a bit too nasaly & tinny , on the high end for my taste...I'd love a bit more midrange in it, if possible. Also, is there any way to change the character of the distortion, so it's not so buzzy & fuzz-like :hmmm: :? ?
BTW, I only pain $15 for the pedal...and it was new & in the original, unopened box  .
I like the Shredmaster side for the most part but would like to make the bass less deep sounding. There is a tonestack in there. Would lowering the bass cap value be the best way to go about it? How about raising the slope resistor value.
Hi all,
I'm new to this board, and pretty much a n00b to modding (I've modded about a dozen pedals). I apologize if this has been covered ad nauseum, but I just bought a DOD 250 reissue pedal and began to do the true bypass mod found in Brian Wampler's book. I wired everything up in accordance with the diagram, as best I can tell. However, I am having issues. When I first completed the pedal, it had a bypass signal for like a minute, but then that cut out. When I engage the circuit, no sound...
I need delay pedal. I dont know if it's better to buy good one or cheap one but rehouse it or do mods.
I want to achieve repeats with only middle frequencies. Dont want bass neither trebles nor hi-fi. Is it called tape delay? I dont mean to SPAM but if you dont know what i mean you can hear in ending part of my song Wagon Wheel
pedals I can afford:
@ FAB slap echo - $23 I could do simple modifications and rehousing
@ Artec Analog Delay - $73 It seems to be ok but I havent...
Last Saturday I bought my first wah at a pawn shop and was instantly converted from an anti-wah guy to a pro-wah guy. But the old wah was cheap and nasty and would be better off in somebody's vintage pedal collection than under my dirty right foot. So I decided to build a new wah, but the wah shells at Small Bear are kind of expensive. Instead I ended up buying a super cheap Aleca EWP-1 (the same brand as Small Bear's shells) for about $47 with shipping. I figured I could replace the guts with...
I'm new at this game, indeed this is my first post in such a forum - having made one or two basic mods before and only re-wired two guitars.
I recently got a Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe, which sounds great, but I'd like to be able to control the volume.
I understand I can install a trim pot for this - so I bought a 100k little blue trimpot thing.
Now... I also know I can put this somewhere between the PCB and the 'Out' - but not sure how.
Hey folks. I have searched around the forums and can't find any mods for the GT-OD. I go this fairly cheap, so I guess it qualifies for this forum. I think it could use more gain and was hoping someone has already looked into this. I would be interested in hearing about other mods as well.
I'm in the process of re-housing my Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive and am following the instructions posted online by Super Velcroboy. A few of the instructions are unclear to me. Specifically, on the IN and OUT connections coming from the main board, where should the middle wires connect to (these are marked as Shield in his instructions)? Also, on the two wires which connect to the power jack, does 9v go to the tip connection on the a Boss-style power jack? I think I hooked these...
bought the pedal before i realized how much smt stuff is out these days
thought i'd mod it , but i gutted it instead at least i didn't have to
drill any holes but it still says washburn
one of madbeans ego driver in there , a little fuzier then i'm used to
but haven't played it long yet
I'm in the process of learning about this stuff and at the moment I really don't know crap.
I have a PB&J delay and I want to rehouse it as a first project. I've read that people usually leave the switching the same way, they just buy new switches. The 9v and jacks are things that people usually change too, so which jacks do you recommend? mono, stereo, enclosed, open frame? The pots should be 16mm or 24mm? and how many K they should be?
I would like to enclose it in a 1290 and separate the...
Got a DL5. My first ever delay, £65 many years ago - Can you believe it? Behringer knock them out for half that 17 years later...
Anyway, as was predictable, the poor soundtank (soundbeetle more like) gave out after a couple of years, lived in a cupboard for a decade and I want to now repair and probably mess with it.
However, I can't get access the guts for fear of snapping the plastic - Heres how far I've got:
The pcb is still held in by something, but I can't decide whether it's the...
I have done some searching and cannot find a schematic for this pedal!
I heard it is a close copy of the FL9 but I can't find a clear schematic of it anywhere either.. I have a blurry factory schem but its really quite bad quality.
I'm after the schem so I can add the delay control in, I have a feeling it may be one of the trim pots inside, but im note sure and I usually deal with od/dist pedals so im not too familiar with BBDs etc.
Not sure I'm posting in the correct section but I had to choose one.
This pedal is not that cheap in Europe but something around Boss prices which isn't that expensive.
So here's my problem/question:
When using the fx, I find the sound is really medium. I like that kind of eq correction when using TS type effects, but with a chorus I'd like to keep a good bass response.
Otherwise this stompbox sounds really good IMO.
So do you know if this pedal is based on another popular effect. If...
Hi I have a Boss RRV-10 that cost me $10.00 at a pawn shop 10 years ago, so I think it qualifies as cheap :D It would be more useful to me in a stomp-box format for use with pedal steel, but I wondered if that is too much effort to put into such a cheap pedal, when I could buy a reverb pedal kit for under $100.... Until I found this forum!
I have already looked inside and it is chock-full of PCB, so I can't make it any smaller. So basically what I need is the right size box, a couple of jacks...
Hi,
I just picked up a Rockson Chorus pedal on ebay. The housing is very boss-like, except the the plastic bottom plate (it flexes when you step on the pedal). Otherwise it's pretty solid. The sound and tone are a bit more subtle than the Boss or old DOD pedals (which is what I like about it).
It's pretty quiet when engaged and doesn't color tone when bypassed. However, there is a distinct popping sound when engaged. What typically leads to that and how easy is it to fix?
i got this a couple of months back thinking that a plastic pedal would not be so bad, however i cant help but feel im going to break it and would like to put it in a metal casing but i have no idea on how i would transfer the stuff over and also with the it being a pedal rather than a switch. what's the best way or does anyone know websites that sell these style enclosures
Hi guys,
I just registered, after wandering your board for a while, and figured id try join in haha. Anyways, does anyone know what minor upgrades or mods a newbie can do to a Belcat OD besides changing the LED?
i have arion sad 1 grey box occupied as my main delay..
the problem i have is there is a low volume church organ like whistle that really annoying. this annoying whistle occur when i ring a note and in the background od the delay.. it almost dead quiet when i don't ring any not
i use a trex fuel tank so maybe power supply isn't the problem, already tried 1spot, PP2+ and the problem still happen.
any solution ??
btw, indonesia have so many gem in cheap price, i got my sad only...
hello, i have a johnson sc-2 stereo chorus pedal i'd like to experiment with. i can't find a schematic but i have good pics of the pcb. since i'm really new at this stuff, i'd appreciate any tips/ideas on making something cool out of it. if it works out i'll rehouse it for use, otherwise it will be a start for parts. thanks.
Along with the unity mod, flashing LED, and John G's mods to remove R26 to reduce the 7k2KHz treble boost and clipping idea,
Came up with another simple one part change mod. Since this pedal is mostly surface mounted, there's not alot that be changed, except for a 10uf cap at c19. This area is a fixed tone, with the bass at r42/c19 and treble at r26/c26. Thanks John G for pointing this out. Change the c19 cap to 0.068uf, and this will give it a much need bottom end boost. In theory, you...
Hey all. I guess this will be more appreciated here.
About a year or two ago a client came to me with a Big Muff Pi, and asked me what mods I could do for it.
I wasn't much of a fuzz/muff guy so I didn't have an answer. But being into DIY tube amps at the time, I broached the crazy idea of putting a 12ax7 in there to serve as input and output buffer. Basically the board of the Big Muff itself was untouched, the only thing added were the tube buffers in the input and output.
