Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
I'm a big fan of this much maligned pedal. I have 3 of them.
They sound stellar into a MIAB type pedal in front of either my Blues Jr or Hot Rod Deluxe.
One is rehoused into a Small Bear 125-B enclosure without a switch so it would fit better onto my main board with a switcher.
(purple box, upper-right)
One will be getting the full-on EJ FF treatment with TI BC183 & Fairchild BC183C transistors. I'll also be bringing the high-gain transistor collector bias trim pot out to an external...
Hi Folks,
I found a mouse for cheap and after taking some time to check out it's build quality (which is excellent), I wondered if there was a way to fit in some of the cool modifications from the VFE Alpha Dog. I like the idea of the pots for hard and soft and also the fat pot. Anybody got any ideas on how that may be able to get done?
Hi guys!
I’m very new and new to pedal mods.
I would like to know how to make my fender chorus pedal sound less compressed And trebly ‘Ice picky’ sounding. I love a vintage tone, darker, warm and thick. Will changing to perhaps film capacitors in parallel or something help? What could I do to make it more open and warm?
Hi guys. New to the forum and to modding.
Just took apart my Fx75B for the first time with the intent of turning off the sweep of the flanger (which I normally do on Flangers with the width/range knob all the way to the left) to achieve that robotic sound, but what's getting in the way still is the SPEED knob, which doesn't seem to turn off completely when turned to counterclockwise. Whereas turning it clockwise all the way generates a short delay, I actually prefer the sound of the fixed...
Hey guys I'm looking to mod my joyo extreme metal so I can either add a seperate knob for the boost channel to controll volume and treble boost seperetly, or take away some treble or add bass. It's almost unusable as is. Anyone found a solution yet?
Thanks
Jesse.
1. Which tabs on this jack should be attached to which traces on the output on the right side of the pcb? Old output jack was cracked. I have attached photos of both sides of PCB (component side is L-R inverted). The schematic I've found for this pedal makes no sense, and I don't have the best setup for testing as I go (no amplifier near bench). The old jack was a 6 pin pcb mount plastic thing, but I'd rather wire in the jack i already have.
McCrypt is an company label of the German distributer Conrad.
I bought the pedal at a favourable price.
I was thinking the pedal is defective, because it was bad sounding,
rather like a fuzz.
The schematic was not available at Conrad, therefore making it necessary to trace the circuit.
finally it is a Krank Maximus style Clone.
The reason for the bad sounding was the wrong biasing of the transistor input stage,
the output signal became heavily asymmetrical distorted at low input signal levels....
Took my buddies crybaby wah, did true bypass, removed input buffer components, various mods, component value changes, yellow fasel inductor. The wah now sounds waaaayyyy more vintage, 60's quack sound is very much there. Sanded down paint on rocker portion, added led, vocal mod 100k pot. Labor of love
First post here. I couldn't find a transcription of Brian Wampler's recent mod to the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone pedal to bypass the heavy distortion stages of this beast and turn it into a decent EQ pedal/clean boost.
Apologies if it has been posted already but I thought others might want to polish this turd too.
The mod is last 3rd of his video here:
So what you'll need are :
* one small jumper
* a 1 to 2 wire,
* a 1k resistor
* two .22 uf (224) capacitors
* and two 1 uf (105) capacitors...
What's the best way of applying artwork to a powder coated enclosure? I know on plain Aluminium you can heat transfer a design using the laser printer method, but will this work on a powder coated enclosure?
I was thinking of just buying some A4 sheets of water slide paper and printing it onto that.... But I think heat transfer may be better.
Wondered if anyone has a clue how to tame the earache of my Bespesco Weeper and turn it into something more magical (or at least not as shrill, brittle and plain dreadful as it is now!)
There is a thread on here examining a Proel wah and mentioning the Bespeco as the same. However inspired enough to take apart my Bespeco Weeper (and contemplate reverse-engineering it back to Colorsound specs), I notice my board is very different, neat square...
i've seen a couple variants of this one, these apply to the two transistor more recent ones.
for all intents, its a v847 circuit. almost literally. so..... what to do?
well, lets start at the input. take out the 10n input cap, and replace with 22n. suddenly it has a much better wah range, adds about another octave of bass.
take out the 56k resistor in line with that cap, and go with a 39k (33k-47k are fine, but 39k has a distinct sound to it in the way the pedal reacts.)
Hello dear friends I will be short.
I want to modify my ME-50 and split modulation and rev/delays go through the stereo outs ONLY and distortion wah and comp to go through another output ONLY .(maybe through the headphone out)
Purpose being to hook up mod/delays in the fx loop of my amp and dis/comp in the front using the different outputs.while i plug my gtr on the input of the Boss.
is there a way to do that and if so,can anyone instruct me on how to do it?
New face here. I've been starting to learn guitar this year since I never did as a kid and of course the pedal bug has got me... I know I should concentrate on learning to play the thing, but I can't help the engineer within me.
I'm looking for a punk/ska/pop-punk tone. This seems to be characterised in general by Mesa Boogie Tripple Rectifiers by many of the bands who play such music but not all. Orange heads, Telecasters, P90's, LPs are all in the mix too. As a beginner playing in a...
the biyang tremolo or the fame stutterer tremolo is equivalent to the boss tr-2 but has got true bypass instead of buffered output. too bad the volume of the effect is not loud enough.
no problem, just replace R6 (10K) with a lower value or solder on the backside of the pcb another resistor parallel to R6. i used a 5,6K resistor parallel to R6. now the pedal is much more useable.
have fun. you can't go wrong with this pedal. :secret: BEST BANG FOR BUCKS!!
Hello,
Has anybody out there modded the DOD Fx57? I just picked one of these up for very cheap because nobody seems to like them. I have a sort of soft spot for undesirable distortion pedals...and this one has a pretty bad rap, despite a lot of interesting components inside. I thought I might be able to find more mods online, but so far the most I've come up with is in regards to tweaking the trim pots via this post on gearbug.com from 2002:
ok, this CAN be a pretty fun pedal --with a simple...
I was looking at pics of the pcbs of the other sound pedals & noticed that the California Sound had a different Mic sim included in it. The parts are R29, C20 & C21 on the board. I put a box on image attached to locate them for ease. I removed R29 & C21 so that the mic sim now matches the other sound pedals. The mod helps bring in more presence & makes the bass a lot more manageable, compared to the stock setting there is a very slight increase in hiss since more highs are coming...
Im new to this forum and really like it. Im wondering if anyone has worked on the bbe green screamer? It sounds very good stock and better than any screamer Ive ever had but I'd like to add a switch that cuts the gain and makes it more of a boost and one that does clay jones or landgraff mods. I have also heard that the eternity pedal is a TS derivitive.
About me: I can solder and have modded pedals, guitars and amps before however a schematic alone wont do anything for me. I need to be...
Hi,
I found a great analog delay a couple months ago and really like it, but it could be better...
Has anyone had any success modifying the Delay Champ? Any suggestions?
I know this has been discussed on here before but Im desperate for help here. Total noob with pedal mods but very good with a soldering iron! Would really like to use this pedal on my board but cant cope with the tone sucking. can anyone give me a full retards guide to wiring in the bypass switch? I have the switch at the ready.
Hi guys, I've been toying with this idea for a long time and wondered if you had any suggestions or foresee any problems I might encounter. I play Pedal Steel and I use 3 stomp boxes (chorus, delay and phaser). I'd like to take the guts out of them and put them all into one box with flick switches as opposed to push switches.I'd also like to run them from one power source ie powerbrick. I don't have much knowledge of electronics so I'm worried that I'll blow the whole lot. Any ideas would be...
