Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
So far I have traced the Pruely Fuzz. It appears to be nearly dead on..The Red Fuzz you can find the schematic at General Guitar Gadgets. The input cap is larger and the feed back loop cap is smaller. Otherwise they use all full size parts and through hole. Actually well built.
I looked over their compelling drive. I am pretty sure it's an OCD power by a 4558 rather than a TL082. I will trace it out soon.
Hi, I've been searching long and hard for some kind of instructions on modding my Boss MT-2 with the Keeley Twilight mod. So far all I can find is which caps to change and diodes to replace with red LED's. What I'm looking for is the instructions and schematic with the full mod that includes the 3 position toggle switch. If anyone has any idea where I might be able to find this info would be great, cheers!
I'm still really enjoying messing around with my DOD250.
I've been reading about tone stacks on pages like this:
and
But, being a noob, I can't really grasp how I would add a tone control to the 250 circuit. Building the separate housing like Beavis recommends looks pretty easy, but not exactly what I'm looking for.
danelectro dan echo de-1: r10 infinite repeats mod.
have done this mod two ways and thought i would post a description and some pictures. it’s a stupidly simple mod.
basic mod is to remove (or clip one leg of) resistor r10 (see pics) so it is no longer part of the circuit (it limits repeats). then jumper the solder connections to re-complete the circuit without it.
i tried this and it works great and as expected. the point at which self-oscillation starts is very finely tuned in on the...
I got one in good conditions for 50 Euros, it's a really nice analog delay... since you do a plug and unplug test (that I did not do in the shop  ) and discover it sucks noticeably volume and trebles, even when bypassed.
The schematic is online, it's not too difficult to locate the 470k resistor that goes from the 100n input cap to the input of the first IC, a TL072. This resistor sets the gain of the input buffer. On the pcb everithing is on the left bottom corner, you can't mistake the...
I'm relatively new to modding and I recently modded a Boss DS1 to Keeley Ultra / Seeing Eye specs (google: diystompboxes build your own ds1 ). So far, I think it sounds nice and fat on strat single coils, but it seems to get muddy and compressed on my LP humbuckers, unlike any of my other drive pedals. I confirmed polarity on all of the diodes (which I'm pretty sure are the only polarity specific items in the mod) and I'm wondering if my results are typical.
Okay so first, I am completely new to pedal modding. By new, I mean I just started looking into it like 3 days ago due to purchasing a TS-7 off of ebay that didn't quite meet my expectations. So I am sending it off to Analogman soon to get the TS808 mod to it. Right now, I have an EHX Soul Food, the aforementioned TS-7, and a Big Muff Pi with tone wicker as my OD/Distortion pedals. I recently purchased an older (not the airplane one) BBE Green Screamer for cheap. I would like for the Green...
Hi everyone! I just modded my Dano BLT Slap Echo to have variable delay. It was super-easy and the results sound great!
Here's the step-by-step:
Needed parts:
- 50K linear taper potentiometer; smallest size you can find... ~9mm size works good.
- Resistor; 180 Ohm
- Wire; approximately 6 to 7cm of 22 gauge solid core.
Steps:
1 - Open it up and remove the boards.
2 - On the main board (the one with the controls on it), locate the PT2399S delay chip; it should be on the lower left-hand side if...
So I play alot of death metal, and have been looking for a tone similar to the 5150 but not having to spend the coin. I ran across this mod one day, and just had to have it.
I ordered it right away, and found myself a metal zone on craigslist.
Well, I got the mod kit, and was HIGHLY disappointed that I was not going to replacing any of the IC's in the pedal. It also irked me that I had spend over $35 on parts that could be had for much, much cheaper.
First off I am 100% new to pedal building and mods. So please feel free to talk to me like I'm stupid because I am.
Anyways I have an ehx soul food that I absolutely love! It's the only pedal that doesn't make my already full sounding amp (deluxe reverb) sound thin. But I wanted to see if I could somehow mod it to have a ton more gain while keeping the same smoothness and fullness to it? Looking to get something I could get a good metal tone out of. Think JHS angry Charley or...
Recently picked up a VERY used Washburn pedalboard for $10. Power supply works great and the former bypass switch is now wired for an amp channel/reverb type switch. Just curious if anyone else has owned one and could give some insight on it. I can find absolutely NO information aside of a few pix from one that was for sale on reverb.com some time ago. I'm guessing this is a long forgotten relic of the 90's. The previous owner added several extra jacks which I've removed as nearly all had some...
hi guys, decided to break my vintage distortion today. ;)
and came up with an easy mod that seems to give it more clarity, headroom, and much better (imho) fuzz.
all ya need to do is open it up, and look at the main circuit board...there's 4 little diodes, and all the bands are facing the same way, towards the mounting screws.
take your iron, and remove the first two diodes...heat the side opposite the band first, then the side with the band, and they'll pop right off.
hey,
I put my question here, cause of a CHEAP tremolo i bought (joyo JF-09 tremolo)
This pedal have only two potentiometer as settings = an Intensity one, and a speed one.
The speed one change the speed of the oscillation.
Is it possible to change that speed potentiometer by a tap-tempo button?
It would be a really epic improvement for a cheap pedal!
If possible some explainations would be really welcomed, like how to replace it? And i guess there are many way a potentiometer can act on a...
I´m currently working on a Arion SFL-1 (MN3207) and I also have a vintage MIJ (MN3204). Unfortunately I don´t have a schematic. Anyone?
Besides I have a first Question:
I was experimenting with MN3206 (128 Stages), MN3209 (256 Stages), MN3204 (512 Stages) and MN3207 (1024 Stages).
So far like the 256 Stages for Flanging and the 512 Stages for more chorus type sounds.
My Idea was to have two MN3209 on a daughterboard with the option to switch off one of them so I can switch...
I'm slipping a Behringer pedal into an aluminum enclosure, & I'd like to replace the micro-switch with a standard SPST. It is soldered to the board at 4 points, & I'm wondering how to wire up the replacement. Any advice is appreciated.
Hi All.
I recently discovered that the schematic for the Danelectro Surf & Turf Compressor can be modified to the Keeley Compressor(either 2 or 4 knob).
If you look at the schematics you can see that they are similar, in that the major differences lie in the clipping, trim, and attack. The sustain which is termed 'sensitivity' in the Danelectro just needs to be rewired. A couple other components need to be removed and voila!

Some time ago I bought this chorus pedal for 8 EUR -- case is plastic, but the jacks are chassis mounted. It says 'Made in Korea'
The outer case says EP18, but the pcb is marked EP16. ICs are M3223L (thin one) M5218AL (two thicker ones). BBDs didn't come from Hongkongsuperseller  ... this time
Here some guts:
New to the Forum but not to building/modding. I picked up a Mars Fuzz Noise Gate basically a EH Graphic Fuzz clone.
Pretty great pedal with a lot of versatility. Bypassed circuit pretty sweet EQ, but it really shines in its overdrive. As many have already spoke of this is not a fuzz, but more of a overdriven distortion.
My searches on its circuit turned up zero.
I figured I post some pics for documentation purpose of its guts and a mod I decided on. And to offer up the info to others if they...
