1966 Sola Sound MK 1.5 ToneBender. Produced in extremely limited quantities during a small window in ’66 only, the MK1.5 ToneBender is perhaps the most mythical of effects, and has certainly become one of the most historically significant effects pedals ever made. The MK 1.5 was manufactured in between the MK I and the Professional MK II. Considered the transitional model that quickly evolved into it’s 3-transistor successor (the Professional MK II ToneBender), the MK1.5 ToneBender was used as...
So... do you think that 1/8W resistors will be high enough wattage to use in a Neovibe/Harbinger one Univibe clone? I think that the audio path will have no problem, however, I am not sure about the LFO part. Anyone got 2ct?
Hello all
I used to own a EHX bad stone witch had only transistors (8?) and no IC. Sold it long ago....
It kept me wondering if they was a schematic of it somewhere and if other phasers where made like this with transistors and not ICs.
Cheers
Benoit
Has anybody got any pictures of the ADA Ampulator circuit boards? I have got the schematics but these do not include a pcb layout. Pcb layouts were included in the documents for the Microcab which I built several years ago and these were really helpful when I did my one channel version. amnwsgwnfzrxec0ke5dw.jpg
I found this on a Japanese web site. I'm pretty sure this is a Big Muff clone closely resembling this factory schematic: . I see at least one pair of clipping diodes and it looks like another hidden behind one of the electros. At least one electro is 1.0uF and at least one ceramic cap is 500pF. I'll bet the large greenies are 0.1uF. I did not check the resistor values. This pedal is made in Japan, according to the site, in 1970. Transistors are metal can Matsushita 2SC539 × 4.
with the schematic supplied by bernardduur i got it up and running
-on one 9 volt battery.
it works perfectly in the drive 'up' mode
drive down seems to be giving me only the eq-filtering (hp, bp, lp) without any sweeps/modulation.
i renewed R8 (and R9), R15 and R16, since they're the only ones being switched in/out of the circuit.
still, no go.
I was just messing around on my breadboard a few days ago to try and build another Tone Bender MkII for myself with a load of 2N404's I received recently. I tried 10uf's like in the Marshall Supa Fuzz (another Tone Bender variant) in place of the 4.7uf caps and was blown away!! I was really surprised a few cap changes would make such a monster fuzz. Thick singing fuzz and sustains for days... I think I have a new favorite. Just wanted to share my joy. :D
After the show about Dharma sound an Orange pedals I too a look at there range one is really peculiar, the Sweeper. As far as I could see:
5 transistor
LM1458
a rotary switch 2 positions (?) down 1 2
a pot Trip
and a LDR, lamp
Any idea what it is?
Ben
Does anyone have schematics or traces of the old Electra Guitar MPC modules? Just picked up a nice MPC guitar, and would like to attempt to make a module board, but would like to first see the thought process behind them, as the guitar uses one 150K pot to control one parameter on the effect. Pretty simple, I'd assume.
Any help would be appreciated. I'd even buy a broken or functional module to work from.
I don't know what it is with booster plugs lately... this one wasn't documented yet. Great pictures on this website
Basic Vox Distortion Booster circuit with hard clipping diodes...
I have no information on the transistors.... I suppose any usual suspect could work...
I am working on building a Shin-ei FY-2 clone (based on the uzzfay page here ), but I'm having the commonly reported problem of volume loss, has anybody found a way to fix this while keeping the tone as similar as possible??
Hi, gang! Here are some gut shots of my Memphis Tremolo modulator, and also an x-ray component side shot of the PCB showing parts & placement. I have seen gut shots of many other Memphis pedals online that use the exact same PCB! VERY clever engineering! I had originally intended to draw up a schematic also, but I'm too lazy to do that by hand anymore. Perhaps a group member might suggest an intuitive (like: drag and drop schematic symbols from a list) program for drawing schematics?
Shockingly great sounding pedal from Memphis. Guts and PCB, I'd like to trace a schem.

Interesting to me is the number of wasted traces and empty holes. Clearly they manufactured 2 or 3 boards and built different effects by populating different areas, but i wonder what else they made with this board.
EDIT: forgot to mention that this is AFTER i already true bypassed it, it had the usual spdt switch from the 70's.
