Multi-Effects Putting two effects in one box almost looks too easy, but you will save a lot of time reading the frequent questions before starting such a project...
Let me start by saying I am new into stompbox building.
Now, lets say we have a Fuzz Face circuitry.
I was thinking of puting a stage before the Fuzz Face, like a Pre-Gain (based on a Linear Power Booster by EHX just to see if it works).
How can I wire this two circuits using this SPDT switch?
Dear friends... well i would like to apologise myself is this post must be in other section of this forum, due to the inactivity of other sections I post this question here...maybe it'll be usefull for more than one Diyer.
several times i had problems with the 3pdt and poping... searching in internet i've read several times about the relay switching way... replacing the 3pdt by a simple momentary stomp switch... some popular brands implement this system on their pedals, to avoid pop, more...
Just wondering how you hardware a pedal to be on when you put the plug in and off when you remove it? I believe you use mono/stereo jacks for the output/input etc but how would one go about wiring that up?
Hi, I made an overdrive and a booster. I want to put them in one case, sharing the input, output, dc jack and battery clip. How do I have to wire them to make in work?
I tried to do it but i get a hum. Both effects turn on and seem to work under that annoying noise.
Hi, so I'd like to slap together a bypass pedal. I was hoping to get some help with how to wire it all up.
So, I'd like to buld a standard truebypass pedal BUT in addition to the latching 3PDT (with LED), I'd like to have a momentary switch (no led) as well that would engage and disengage the bypass. AND, a toggle that would switch around the momentary positions (momentary pressed engages loop, momentary up bypasses OR toggle for momentary pressed bypasses and momentary up engages loop).
Hi guys I'm working on building my first overdrive, however I've read about symmetrical and asymmetrical clippping, so I would love to know how to wire my diodes using a toggel swtich to select between symm/asymm clipping, I wan to keep one of the 1N34A on the board and where should be placed the another one, just solder the wires to the toggle switch where I can select between the 1N34A for symmetrical or the 1N914 for asymmetrical, I think I should go 2PDT , but I'm not clear on how to qwire...
The Empress Tap Tremolo tap switch is a 2 pole latching switch.
How can I add in a 1/4 jack so that the unit can be controlled via plain old non-latching momentary switches?
I am building a SHO as my first attempt at pedal building. I had everything together yesterday and tried it out, bypass worked fine, but when the pedal was engaged there was nothing. Opened it up and found that I had failed to ground the pot, so I rectified that and tried it out again...now I have the opposite problem. The pedal seems to work fine when engaged, but now I get no signal pass through when it is bypassed. I didn't change any of my wiring on the switch and I have double and triple...
Hello from Argentina! This is my first post here! I hope to be able learn from you and to help you!
Ok, this is the problem: I've build a Big Muff Triangle (tonepad pcb: ) and it works really great. Now I'm trying to put it a led indicator with a millenium 2 board (i cannot obtain a 3PDT switch in my city), I've already made this circuit:
And it's working good, but.. The led turns ON when the effect is OFF and OFF when the effect is ON!! I'm going mad, i don't know what to do about it... I'm...
I was wondering what would be the best way to connect both a regular 3PDT (with LED) and a momentary DPDT switch for the same circuit ?
The idea being for example in this case to have it switch on a tremolo. The 3PDT would be used to switch it on and off, like normal. The DPDT would be used for a different effect, for example if you want a kind of stutter you'd just step on the momentary switch to turn the pedal on while pressing down.
It's fairly straight forward but how is the best way of...
so I just finished a Klon Buffer, which i put in a 1590A enclosure with a simple mini-toggle switch.
Now i played a little and flicked it back and forth and had a hard time telling the difference which i guess is normal with cables that are maybe 15' long (I know some have golden ears :D ).
Now i tried it in front of my Fuzz Face just for the heck of it (I don't have a buffered pedal) because i wanted to hear the nastiness and to my surprise the nastiness came not on what i expected...
I am fairly new here and got a question for you. I would like to wire two inputs to two different outputs and would like to switch between them with a 3PDT switch. Here's how I would do it:
I would wire it like an A/B selector but instead of one input I am using 2. I would wire the two inputs to the 3PDT switch as I would do it as if I have one input. Is this right?
I am in the process of repairing a TS9 I was given a while back and I really don't like that flimsy little momentary switch that Ibanez decided to put in there. Does anyone have advice on how to replace it with a beefier (preferably true bypass) switching system without messing with the looks too much? I'm perfectly willing to tear off the button and just stick a conventional switch in there (free pedal) but it would be preferable to keep it looking stock.
I'm making my first a green ringer the layout says to use a dpdt switch but i can't seem to find out which switch number corresponds to which pin on the switch?
any help would be great so i can get my first build finished.
I've been asked to build a crunch box and a sho in same box. I'd also like to put a toggle switch to change their order (SHO -> CB or CB -> SHO).
Does anyone have already a schematic or layout for that kind of switching :D ?
First post in eons. Just got a GGG ITS8 working with all the mods, it sounds incredible. I searched high and low for hours but I ran into this problem: I did the fat mod with 2 caps on a 3 position SPDT switch that is ON-OFF-ON, hoping that the center position would be lifted, just like the diode lift mod which uses the same exact switch . Both caps work and I wired it off board just like the beavis audio diagram but only the center position switch doesn't work (it bypasses the signal)!!!! Can...
I'm finishing a kit I started years ago, a Whisper Compressor designed by Thomas Henry and Jack Orman. The kit was from Midwest Analog Products who seem to be out of business. The design is an opti-comp using two 9V batteries. Is there someway I could use this with an outboard 18 V power supply like the tap off a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power? If so, how would I wire it? I also want to use a 3PDT to power an LED.
I did some searches here but came up empty. Can anyone help me with a diagram for a switchable input cap mod? I'm building a Jordan Bosstone and I want to have a toggle switch to switch between a .1uF and a .022uF input cap.
Would I just use a SPST switch (on/on)?
Switch Lugs
1- .022uF cap
2- wire from board
3- .1uF cap
And then take the unused leg from each of the caps and wire them both together and to the board. Right?
Just want to be sure I'm doing this right so I can order up the...
Hi all!! New round here.
I'd like to build the Zombie Chorus with Solderman layout
but I have a couple of doubts. First of all, which switch should I use, SPDT or ON OFF ON?
On the other hand, I've benn searching for schematics to wire it, but since it mounts an onboard 3pdt and led I'm totally lost.
Could anybody help me with this? This is the thing:
Hello and seasons greetings!
Ive a problem here which is really bugging me. Ive a lot of 3pdt which work all as should when tested with a multimeter. When in the circuit when the effect is off , there is a faint led glow?
How can this be happening. The signal all works as it should and the effect does? ????
ANY IDEAS ...............
Thanks
Im looking to add a master bypass for two independent circuits in one box. I know how to make a loop for one circuit or two or more in series which would only have 1 input and 1 output. How can I do this with a status led for the master bypass switch? DO I send both of the circuit ins to the master switch at one pole and the same with the circuit outs then send two wires from the master switch output jack pole and two from the single input jack pole? Wouldnt this cut the signal in half? Do I...
So I'm a complete beginner and I'm building this smokey amp circuit, would really appreciate some help
i was wondering if someone could please tell me how to wire in a couple of things to this
a 3 pin volume pot
a jack output so it can be wired into a big speaker (im still putting in a small speaker as well)
a power output (im using the battery as well but want to be able to plug it in too)
Say I have three circuits and I want to be able to toggle between them.
I only want one of them on at a time, like a normal 3 channel amp.
Can someone please write up a perf or PCB schematic instead of sending me on an informational path on how and why? I've read about relay switching a thousand times, looked at tons of 'ideas' on the logistics of it, looked all of R.G.'s tutorials and such but my brain could really grasp it better if I just saw a layout with actual parts and connections.
