Looks like a Tonebender to me. [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]
AFAIK, the upper board is just a buffer/power setup.

I gotta agree with this. It looks like a silicon tonebender. That big tranny is probably a bd139-esque low gain so its not balls out fuzzy. And the upper board is like in Danelectro pedals: its a buffer/switching only.

Hi, The top board is a bypass; in general, it is not necessary to remove the circuit, although it would be interesting for me to get a bypass circuit for myself
Regarding the pedal, I am 99% sure that this is another pedal based on the Big Muff maybe black Russian, with some mods.

Perhaps the board is two-way and it makes sense to photograph the second side :D

Sure, that's what I notice.
Sadly, the pedal isn't mine: I found the pics in diystompboxes forum.

I'd argue it's definitely not a big muff.
No clipping diodes.
Q4 and Q5 are connected together.
Parts count is way too low.

That's why I said maybe Tone Bender-esque, not a muff at all afaik. Sounds great in any case. that big transistor looks familiar with the darlington type pair after it.
