from the literature:

an improved version of the overdrive found in the OFO Disnortion. Pigtronix added a Class A J-FET booster stage to the front end....Featuring a JRC4558 chip and the ability to run at up to 15 volts......

i would love to see some pigtronix reversed, they have some very cool designs. thier adsr pedal, guitar synth, echolution...all very intelligently designed and provide what many pedal companies lack: creativity....

I've been gassing over this pedal for six months. I keep finding other things to buy that I think I need more at the time. I'd love to see some schematics or vero layout for this thing so I could waste a bunch time and money and have it not work :slap:

Oh, and this is my first post. You guys have a great forum here, and I've learned a TON from reading your conversations. I feel like a pervert voyeur not participating.

nice shots, thanks! :thumbsup what would be even better, would be if you could slide off those connectors for the wiring and take a few more shots of the top, then unscrew the board and get some shots of the underside. then some nice person out there might be able to perform a trace. thanks again!

Mmm.. Can I get you to take some pictures in better light with all of the connections disconnected on the component side? They just pull straight out (did the same thing with my Philosopher's Tone). Maybe take the pics with the macro setting on your camera, if it has one as well.

look ma, no diodes! so i'd guess that 4049 is being used for disnortion.

Yep, and opamps for active EQ for each band.

:) Bump for pics of component side with the switch, input, output, and DC unplugged.

This pedal is really interesting. I'm also starting to trace the overdrive section of the Disnortion from pics a guy put up on here.

plenty of CD4049UBE circuits around...study them and the traces/compontents.

This should help you trace the EQ section which looks pretty standard to this at a glance Image.

The rest should not be hard either for anyone who has enough interest to put in the effort.

Shot that show component values for caps wouldn't hurt to finish the deed.

Hi to all,
does anyone have more info on this one? It's got an interesting tone.

Thanks.

I Have one of these and I think it is very similar to a Red Llama or Tube sound fuzz.

But the tone stack is not like the 3 band Bandaxal because it uses an opamp for each band. I'm pretty sure. If someone could trace it, that would be a wonderful!

NOTE: Thefollowingismyopinionandisnotdesignedtoinfluence,bias,ornegateyouroppinionsofthispedal:

I really don't know if I like it. The Red Llama sounds cool but the tone controls on this pedal make it sound super sterile. And the frequency peaks are in the wrong places, for me at least. But I'm kinda picky. Sort of.

I recently traced a Polysaturator for a friend who wanted a clone of his built with a more traditional control layout, so here we go.

Thanks for the schematic, BuGG. Someone drew this layout up for me. Built and verified!
The original comes with an 18v supply, and the pedal enclosure says "9V - 15V". The War Hog is a modified version more suited to metal that I'd like to see too.
