I don't mind (at least, not too much) the fact that the RC-2 has to be powered up for the amp to function, but would like some sort of switch on the pedal to be able to power it up with a foot tap, instead of plugging/unplugging the adapter all the time.

Am I missing something here? Add a switch?

Thanks for the help.

I'm quite confused. Can you not switch it at the wall?

Yes, but that's not as accessible as the pedal. All into a surge protector, that into the wall, all under a cabinet.

I could run a separate surge for that I guess, just wanted something a bit cleaner.

Seems like you've made yourself a problem that's now in search of a solution. Why not just get a regular switched powerboard, plug your amp + adapter(s) into that, then that goes into the surge protector. You don't need another surge protector since the one plugged in at the wall's got you covered.

OK, can you steer me to a switched powerboard?
