I'm not sure what souped means, this is what I've found in Urban Dictionary

when I built the buzztone, I never saw that fuzz-wah schematic and ironically the only way I could get it to fire up was the same!

I just realized what a strange term "souped up" is. My other choice would have been "gnarlier" but that would have been confusing as well I guess. That fuzz wah must have come after the Buzztone since the differences seem like much needed improvements.
