Yeah, that would be a potential issue if there were any kind of real boosting going on. Unity gain seems to work plenty clean through the BBD, though, even if you eliminate the volume drop via a level adjustment at input (since there's no output gain stage to work with).

Oh, another thing about the AC-cord version: Look and see that EH has the signal ground connected to the chassis (mains 3rd prong) ground. Make those two separate! Huge and easy noise reduction (if you have the corded version and not the wall-wart version).

You'll need insulated jacks and tie the signal ground to them, like so...
