Hi Gang, What do you folks think about drilling the orig. for led and DC power jack? OR should I buy a
new enclosure and rehouse the unit? and if you suggest rehouse, could you please recommend a place to buy the
parts? in the USA hopefully. Thanks.

I say keep it original as it is a bud box version. Though if you do mod it, rehouse it so you can have the original box to put it back in if the need arises. www.smallbearelec.com has MXR sized boxes that could be used.

Sounds right, but modding the original unit kills its value!

Better off building a new one, even a 1:1 clone if you enjoy (with carbon comp and all), and add all the mods you like...

Cheers!

Like everyone else says, keep it original. Especially since the enclosure is still in pretty nice condition.

It's the proverbial no brainer really.... except!

I'd lost a screw from the base cover plate from mine years ago and after getting sick of dead batteries (mine was board mounted) drilled out a 2mm hole from the inside of the box into and therefor through the screw hole... poked through a new battery clip and reverse wired it to a female 2.1 barrel. Just to be clear the wire comes out of the screw hole NOT the side of the enclosure...
Job done!!
Forget the LED, you honestly know when its on...

As to the delicate subject of "vintage" gear...

2mm for a hole thats not visable unless you look really closely isn't the crime of the century and only a rare breed would say it sounded different... well maybe on another site!!
Happy to post pics if necessary.
