Germanium Fuzz Face Hiss With Guitar Volume Rolled Down.

I have searched for an answer for this but haven't had any luck. I have a germanium fuzz that I built years ago and I have always had the following problem. The fuzz (hiss) is normal with my guitar volume up all the way but when I roll it back I get hiss. The farther I roll the volume down the more hiss I get. Here is the kicker, I only get this hiss when I use a power supply. I have tried a regulated boss supply and my voodoolab pedal power plus supply. I am not using any other pedals. When I run it off a battery this hiss does not happen so I use a battery. I would like to be able to use a supply. I have tried several other fuzzes and some have this issue and some don't. Any ideas?

try a 100 ohm resistor coming in in series on the power supply rail
there is a small possibility that may not be large enough. so, you could put a 500 ohm pot in series with the power, start at zero, then increase until hopefully the hiss disappears

Tried the 100 ohm resistor and it didn't help. Tried all the way up to 470 ohms and no change. The problem I have is not power supply hum or ripple on the supply. My issue is hissssss when I roll the guitar volume pot down to clean up the fuzz. The more I roll the vol back the louder the hiss gets. The hiss is very loud when the guitar vol is down all the way. No hiss if I just use the battery.

cool...with vintage effects that didn't originally use an adapter, it's always good to see if there's a difference with a battery or 100ohm.
