While recently clearing out I found this copy of an DIY-Instruction from the last millennium. :D
Funkschau was an electronics magazin puplished in Germany.
The article dealt with the pre and post frequency filtering about the clipping stage.
I think the circuit is great for making trials to this topic.
The component drawing is blurred and the solder side drawing got a lack of sharpness, so I had to create a new layout.
There are two diffrences between the layout and the schematic, therefore the schematic had to be corrected.

I love the 1985 attitude:

under the first picture of the fuzz face schematic
"1. simplest-fuzz/distortion from the beginning of guitar electronics.
a) Schematic (without component values, as it is not recommended to reproduce)"

from the introduction text:
"These little gadgets called "fuzz box" or similar were produced for years in great quantities; they sounded incredibly ugly and raspy/scratchy, which is why they have widely disappeared today."

Deutsche Gründlichkeit! :applause:
I'm curious what this dirt unit sounds like.
I wish I were a chestnut tree, nourished by the sun.
With twigs and leaves and branches and conkers by the ton.

Yes, this looks very interesting! Wondering about the choice of frequency range for the mid-range filters, but I suppose you could tweak those if you wanted. Asymmetric hard clipping will probably sound pretty good here.
