regarding the layout I posted above, I slightly worked it and its verified. My bass player loves it. Note orientation of chip.

N1 seems to have a hair less gain than N3 which is whats in there now.

I have a problem with that effect. I made it using the following project:

As you can see I changed some components to, I think, scale down the tone stack. Unfortunately, when I fired this thing up, the volume control didn't shut it up completely. It was always beyond unity gain. So I changed the volume potentiometer back to 1M, but now the EQ doesn't do a damn thing. The changes in sound are so tiny, that it's really hard to tell any difference.
Can anybody tell me what's going on? :scratch:

Maybe the connection between the MID pot and the ground is broken.

Hello,

I made this pedal using EZS layout at top of this page. But I have some issue with getting no sound. I used a socket for the 2N5008 transistor, and when I do not have the transistor in the socket I get the following voltages:

C = 9.40
B = 0.087
E = 0.0

When I the transistor in the socket I get the following voltages:

C = 2.45
B = 0.083
E = 0.06

I double checked the resistors and for shorts, but I see nothing. Any ideas on what the voltages should read, or what to look at for the big drop once transistor is inserted?

Thanks
Rob

Should be a 2N5088, but any npn silicon transistor of similar spec should do, 2N5089/-3904/-2222/BC549/-108/-109/MPSA18 etc: The first stage is just an LPB-1 boost, which is pretty forgiving of exact transistor spec.

2N5008 does exist, but i think it's pretty different to what you need here, if that's what you are actually using.

Sorry it is a 2N5088 and I tried a 2N5089

Just looking for the voltage it should be at the transistor
