Horizon Precision Drive
Hallo guys and gals,
Anybody got any information on that pedal? I saw a demo of it the other day and it sure sound great...I mean the Pete Thorne demo not the 1000 different chugga chugga demos.
Sound like a hot rodded TS with a MRX gate in series...from the gut shots I found I would not expect it to be a decimator circuit, the board is just so small. Of course I may be mistakin' it's all smd after all.
So let me know what you got about that beast.

It would be good if you would post some background info about this rather than just a quick "schematic pls" kind of request.
A quick google found this gutshot. Seems to be largely SMD and thus difficult to trace (especially from pictures).

I've got one if somebody wanted to trace it also got some really high risk pictures

Bugg, how are both sections connected, the overdrive and the noise gate? Does the noise gate goes after the output buffer of the overdrive or?bugg wrote:No need to trace it, I have a schematic for it.

AFAIK, input buffer stage -> rms detector -> tube screamaer section -> noice gate w output buffer.karul wrote:Bugg, how are both sections connected, the overdrive and the noise gate? This way noise gate is driven by original signal and effectively eleminates all the noise from screamer's circuitry.

I'm still unpacking after the move, once my computer is up and running I'll get the schematic for you.
In the meantime...
Input goes parallel into the overdrive and RMS detector circuits, output of overdrive into unity gain buffer then FET based gate (shunts signal to VREF when gated), through one last unity gain buffer to output.

Right on I was looking at the Dwarven hammer if someone else has posted, and was figuring the last part was just for a Noise Gate

I will shortly get a precision drive in for repair so I would much appreciate a copy of the schematic if possible... please.bugg wrote:No need to trace it, I have a schematic for it.

Bugg, did you draw up the noise gate section? Was watching a video where Dante Frisiello was extolling the virtues of the noise gate on this pedal & wondered if it really was anything special.

I don't want to derail the pursuit of circuit schematics, so please carry on with that.
I just wanted to point out that the Demonfx Precision Drive is obviously a clone of this pedal.
I can't vouch for their cloning accuracy since I don't have it myself, but it's less than £40 on AliExpress.

The "Attack" control looks to be an easy & interesting mod for any DIY Screamer, and the gate is pretty clearly targeted at a very specific TS use, i.e. boosting a high gain amp.
