Not my favorite lovepedal. Sounds quite boxy.

This pedal certainly isn't boxy. Playing it thru my LP into an Epi Valve JR with an Eminence 1x12 cab, it basically sounds like post-Bon Scott AC/DC. With a little more treble, I get a nice VH. Roll back the volume and tone knobs, and cleans up for a dirty blues. On the neck pup with volume dimed, getting some nice Creamy Clapton woman-tone leads. All this with the gain on minimum. I've never seen an OD/Distortion pedal that is so sensitive to guitar volume/tone. Course, you got to put it in front of a clean tube amp on the edge, sounds like s--- with my old SS marshall.
Notes, even with chords, sound very round (no pun on boxy intended).

while looking at a krank distortus maximus schematic, it flashed in my mind that the
IC under the epoxy is a LM386. Therefore, it seems like everyone has said a COT50 with a boost and eq.... peace minatour87

@sandmannn69
if you want to you can remove that goop easily,
I did it some time ago with another lovepedal, easy!

I'm very curious about the purple plexi, and even more since we that that it isn't just another electra distortion! :lol:

On an SMD board? Without damaging the components?

nah,
it was an older lovepedal with "real" components
but the goop went of very quick without any damage.
I assume that it will be even a bit easyier on an smd board, since the components are mounted flat on the board,
so that they have only goop on one side!

If the goop adheres to the surface of the SMD components then the components will chip off with the goop. That's why I'm not real interested in de-gooping this pedal.

Ok, I guess the epoxy doesn't adhere to the parts. If you're interested, here's a Purple Plexi 800 de-gooped. Nothing special, but it sure does sound good.

Yep, and damn good one, too.

I just got back from GC where I put it in front of Fender BLues jr. Boy, that was a sweet 1/2 hour of playin! That amp sounds great clean, too. Almost bought the damn thing. I need to take somethin for this GAS.
