That must have taken some effort! :applause:

GREAT job! should we delete the old schemos then?

I think that's definitely a good idea.

OMG, that is some hard work done :D

I am so confused with the schematic, I am trying to extract the DistX part :D anyone got that?

Have anybody tried to build this pedal?
Cause I want one :)

Buy one.
Looking at the amount of time, money and effort in making the PCB's, sourcing and buying the components, building the thing and finally debugging it, the real thing is a bargain.

great effort teemuk!

I think you'll like it when you guys get it up and running. I love mine! sidenote - these things go for $150ish used on ebay fairly regularly... might be one of the few things I'd rather buy than build anyway :D

Can someone please provide some more details about the EMI suppression filters FILT1/2, IND1- 4 and C1/2?
It looks like 2 of the 3 terminals of C2 are shorted.

I wouldn't mind building one of these too,as I'm really getting into the sound of Tube/Valve based distortion stompboxes,i was considering building myself a Matchless Hotbox one day.... :)

another convert
Sorry Simon - check the schematic first - very complex circuit BUT the distortion is not just the tubes

Yep....*says with Evangelical gusto*..."I have seen the light"...(pun fully intended)..*then realizes that he was looking at something completely irrelevant*....just kidding..rofl...

Thanks for warning me about the schematic complexity mate,I'll make sure I give it a good study BEFORE I even contemplate starting a build of this, usually that's what I do first off.... :)

With the PCBs are you going to do pretty much same as for the Real Tube Overdrive?,sorry to pester you about this..... :)

And,of course I read your warning about the Switchmode Power Supply too.... :)

bump for a worthy thread.

Dead blackstar. Measure the footswitch.... contact contact. Switch over to the other side. no contact, no contact.

replaced switch. All switching works fine but always by stepping twice..weird

back to this thread...

the switch is a momentary... [smilie=a_doh.gif]

Wow! this is opamp?
i thought this was a tube pedal!

Just because there is a valve in there doesn't mean the clipping comes from the vale, for instance the MARSHALL JMP1 Valve peamp gets most of its clipping from opamp and diode clipping.

I am an extremely HT Dual user, although I wouldn't have the guts to attempt building a DIY version ....

Actually the one I have is the 2nd (the first one was stolen).........now here's the news

The new one I just got SOUNDS DIFFERENT (Better !!!, way more fluid, specially in channel one), and comes with a 24V switchmode wallwart !!!!!! the previous one had a 12V or 16V wallwart if I'm not wrong.....so probably they have made some adjustments in the circuit.

BTW I also exchanged the stock Sovtek 12AX7WA by a Groove Tubes 12AX7AC5HG and I guess that also contributes to the overall better sound.

So, for the Blackstar owners,
DO locate the 1 meg and 8k2 voltage divider that feeds the high voltage back to the controller chip. Replace these 2 resistors, especially the 1 Meg, to a resistor with a higher power rating than the 0.25 watts that is in there now. Might save you dead HV caps and a burned power FET long term.

Hi,

i have downloaded the last updated schematics you have posted...

Is there also a BOM (what ICs are the IC1a, ecc...).. ?

Thanks very much in advance

Great work !

I bought this pedal a week ago and it sounds great.

But the schematics I looked way over my head, very complicated. But I'm curious to know how much indeed does the valve contribute to sound on this? I've heard on these tube pedals op-amp(s) give some pre-gain before signal entering to tube, but how much that's an intresting question :hmmm:

How about gain adjusting? Does it actually control the gain of the tube or is the tube's condition fixed so that adjusting gain only affects on solid state of the pedal?

Overall, in what measure can you call this a real tube pedal? Or despite the ht voltage would you categorize it the same way like many others using starved plate design?

Anyone knows the value of the filter (FILT2) in the last schematic??

My Dist is broken, I've open it and saw that the inductor was dead...I want to replace it but I don't know te value... :hmmm:
