OK, use that to have a go yourself at drawing a circuit diagram and I promise I'll check it for you.

Symbol for a switch:

Symbol for an LED:

Put a resistor in series with the LED to stop it burning out (depends on the LED, 1k is usually fine)

Use lines to symbolise what wires will connect things! The switch symbol there is for a DPDT switch (google it) which are commonly available as footswitches.

You need to seperate the LED and channel switching into individual 'poles' of the switch and then use a power supply or battery for the LED, probably.

There's no real guarantee what kind of signal/voltage the amp is going to send.

If the amp sends 1.7V on the control line, there is a good chance you can use your original drawing with no additional power supply. It generally depends on the voltage of the LED used and how the switching actually takes place, but since you are shunting 1.7V to ground without the LED, I'm going to guess it is designed to provide power for the LED so you should be fine. You will most likely need to use a diffused plain old LED though, not a super bright or waterclear one.

I'd suggest downloading a schematic of that Hiwatt Amplifier, then you would be able to work out all details of the footswitching from that, from how to power the led indicators,to how the footswitch sockets are wired,etc.... :)

From that,a schematic for a footswitching pedal for the amp,can be designed, there's nothing like referring to a schematic or service manual to gain wanted info.... :)
