There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

Boss - DN-2 ( Dynadrive )

Somebody has guts (or a schematic) of this:

I am confident that there is more new technology inside than in any bootweak pedal. For this reason I am curious....

Well, with all these guts you hunt all over the internet it's possible to forget one;)

When i first saw the rewiev of the DN-2 in german G&B i thought clever idea! I was curious how did they do that, some VCA, OTA based dynamic expander before the clipping stage? There was a pdf project floating around with NE571/572 compander chip used as a compressor and expander in front of overdrive. Never tried it, but it look interesting, the whole idea of envelope controlled gain in the overdrive pedal seems to be something fresh and worth trying. Maybe we'll try it as next community design?

Looks like a microprocessor. Probably a Roland COSM offshoot.

Funny experience I had involving a Dyna Drive... someone approached me about changing the indicator LED on his DN2 to a 5mm bright blue LED. Happy to oblige, I took his pedal home and swapped out the LED. Of course, I had to drill out the LED hole bigger. Anyway, I finished the simple project and gave the pedal back to the owner. Sometime later he asked me, "what did you do to my pedal?" Wondering to my self if maybe I botched the job, I asked him, "Why, is there something wrong with it?" To which he replied, "No, it is working fine. But it sounds better now than it ever did before?" I just told him that bright blue LEDs always makes things sound better.

Merged two topics on this unit and cleaned it out a bit.

Make one up! That's where mods come from. Happy tinkerers.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.
