this was supposed to be posted here... sorry :( ...

just couldn't delete the topic posted in modern effects

anyway...have you seen this?

it sounds just great!

from wampler website:
It has a mid control that is admittedly borrowed from other great Wampler pedals like The Pinnacle, but this one is refined, less fussy and instantly gratifying over the full range of its sweep

Check this out...From youtube...5 transistors (maybe j20, used often), power mosfet for polarity protection, and a JRC4580D... no onboard pots names/values

It looks like a BMP tone stack with a variable mid pot (see MI Audio Tube-Zone for an example).

So my best guess is:

- 4 cascaded JFET gain stages, the 5th being a buffer before the tone stack(see Dr Boogey)
- a BMP tone stack with variable mid pot (see Tube Zone)
- an output opamp buffer to recover the loss of amplitude (see Pinnacle II LE)
- the bright switch would add a bright cap somewhere around the gain pot (think Marshall amp)
- the boost switch changes the voltage dividing network between stage 2 and 3 (probably)

I have been thinking about making a Dr Boogey with a BMP tone stack with mid control for a long time. It seems I was not the only one.

Is that an opto isolator IC at the top of the board (4 pins)?

from wampler tweed 57 topic...
Actually it is the polarity protection. Read this article by R. G. Keen. The advantage of this method is the very low voltage loss across it, as opposed to usual series diode which eats around 0.6V.

It's more likely a fet for polarity protection (diode next to it as well.)

OOps someone already said this. :slap:
It's fairly straight forward, if you want to start it , press start. You can work out the rest of the controls for yourself !

No silicon heaven ? preposterous ! Where would all the calculators go ?

Thank you for the dream-crushing Mr Wampler...

Maybe mu-amps then...

Most certainly, judging by the amount of gain available...

It would be really interesting to see this pedal retraced!
It started with a limited run for musiciansfriend, but it's easily available now.

The monolithic circuit and parameters of the sovereign are very similar with the pinnacle

Indeed. It seems that there are a bit of similarities, in particular, with it and the Pinnacle LE. The latter was traced out in what I think was a Pinnacle II thread. So I went and dropped in the capacitor values for the LE, and then looked at the Sovereign. I tried to label what I thought might be the cap equivalents.

I figured that until someone has one to trace, that the next step would be figuring out the resistor values, and then they could be cross-referenced to the Pinnacle as well.

This seemed like as good a place as any to start. I hope it helps.
