Just curious if Mason is still up to his old chicanery. Or is he really building stuff these days?

I read an article where he apologizes and then stated that all his pedals are made in an assembly house in batches. Not sure if they are clones or not though.

Yeesh.
$200 for a couple of Mu-Amps into a Big Muff tone control.

Interesting. i wonder if the new Ultra Phonix OD is a variation of the same basic design. It's also being marketed as a Dumble sim.

No need to open this one up since they already did it for you... All I have to say is, Really?

I think a schematic is in order..
Not to be confused with Vytex Condoms..

Seems like a good idea from a marketing standpoint.

I figured he was ripping someone's circuit. At least this time (maybe) he isn't slapping his sticker on someone else's pedal?
To be frank, I have zero interest in buying his stuff. I'm just curious, because it seems the boutique world has so quickly forgotten his old tricks, and he seems to be getting recognition again.

True of others. Freekish Blues, for example.

the guy is just a marketing freak,he brainwashes the "artists" with PNL and a good check, that's all, this battery box was already in other pedalboards of these guys made by Bradshaw and Dave Phillips i guess.Bill_Mountain wrote:Frank_NH wrote:Is that four battery "power supply" for real???

His boost is just a standard boost, nothing special.
As far as D sounds, make it play to any good aforementioned pro and he's gonna make it sound like you want it to sound, its like that, since almost nobody has ever played a real SSS in reality.

he has a funny youtube video where three guys are doing a blind listening test between the
Vertex Ultraphonix OD and a dumble amp with no parameters or methods explained or identified
they're supposed to say if they thinks it's the pedal when they hear " ramdomly " live played examples
of course nobody gets them all correct, and you're supposed to say " well if it's that close , for 200 ! "
actually I saw a couple versions of it , promising to giveaway a pedal , so people post their guesses furthering
the " confusion " about which is which ] or as I believe he wants you to say which you think is better , the two examples
do not sound well matched so you can ascribe qualities to each because they [ purposefully ? ] sound different

Hi folks,
Forgive me for resurrecting an old post.
I would like to know if the values of the tone stack that appear in the pedalpcb diagram are correct.
Did someone put together this circuit with those values?
I did a simulation and the response curve seems strange to me.
Awaiting your comments.
Cheers,
José

Thank you Alex to point me to the discussion in "the other forum".
I find another tale about this matter here at the forum: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24898
So what would be the appropriate values for a tone control stage with Big Muff topology ?
What is the best response suggested to the kind of booster exposed in this thread ? (flat, mid hump, mid scoop ?)
Cheers,
Jose

there is no real answer to this, you have to find out yourself what sounds good to your ears,i recommend to use the tonestack calculator program,to check out what to change.ppluis0 wrote:Thank you Alex to point me to the discussion in "the other forum".

You could start with something similar to the Wampler Pinnacle, and tweak from there.
