Incredible - after searching "univox" , "super" + "fuzz", and "superfuzz" theres no thread on this classic effect.

Anyway, schematics can be found

And here are the project files for your own clone:

you can choose between grey/black or orange/blue.

There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

I am building one right now. I am 1 resistor short

I personally am really sick of fuzz pedals. I just had to build this one though.

Yeah,

There isn't a specific a specific schem given for grey black vs orange blue but you can see the early version has a .001 cap in the filter. The later ones have a .002. Pretty subtle difference though.

I made designed and built a stripboard layout for this. the original layout is verified (it was a paper design), unfortunately this electronic version isn't as yet.

Here is the one I built:

The "STARVE" knob is some kind of SAG control?

This piece of junk can destroy a man... uh! personal fauvorite!,
Well it has no mistery, there's plenty of info about it on the net, but I agree it deserved it's own topic.
Strongly recomended for every over-the-top-fuzz junkie.

What does it sound like with the starve pot? Just about to case one of these, and might be interested in adding one in if it seems worthwhile.

Yo

If you have an extra pot laying around I'd say do it. At first it just seems like a combo fuzz/volume control since it affects the volume and gain but the character of the fuzz gets less complex and gates in a cool way. It won't turn it into a fuzz factory or anything but its fun. Use a 5k though. The sound completely dies past that so a 10k or higher will have a large dead zone towards the end of the pot travel.

Realised when I got home from work and started thinking about this that I had already drilled the enclosure for two pots (and also that I didn't have the right pot values so couldn't finish it tonight  ). Lucky for me this build is for someone else so when I build one for myself I'll be sure to add this in. I'm quite a fan of gatey fuzzes.

Is the starve wired as a variable resistor that simulates a dead or dying battery? does it just starve the circuit of voltage?
I fancy attempting this one and will add a starve if I can. Great looking pictures by the way! :D

Absolutely, just a pot inline with the voltage to the circuit.

To those of you who have built the superfuzz- do you have much trouble with hum/noise? Just finished mine off, and there's a fair amount of hum, which i've never had much trouble with in previous builds. I did have to twist the legs of the base and collector round as I used 2SC828's but the layout was designed for 2N2222's. Could that have anything to do with it?

With any Superfuzz build expect a delayed blast of hiss about a split second after you hit a note or chord. If you don't like it TOUGH!

So glad to hear that! Have been trying to figure out what on earth I might've done wrong that would be causing that.
