Wonder if the decaying sponge thing and the spiderwebs add some vintage tone mojo?

Hey that's at least half of it! Once I cleaned the yellow "mystery powder" (decayed foam) out of my old Shure 55 it wasn't quite the same.krome_magnon wrote:Wonder if the decaying sponge thing and the spiderwebs add some vintage tone mojo?

I've built this... very much one o them in-a-godda-da-vida type fuzzes. Cool if ya wanna sound... old...

Hmmm....really ?.....from the schematic circulating around ? then you haven´t build THIS....I've built this...
Because THIS is more like the Mosrite Fuzzrite, Orpheum Fuzz, Shin-ei FY-2 (or similar units) with a 100k and 47k in the collector path of the second transistor and a 100n from the node between the resistors to GND.

There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

2N 5133: 18V/50mA/200mW ß:60-1000/1mA fg>40MHz
A BC239C, a BC 550C or a 2N5088 should be usable as a replacement.
So a PNP equivalent would be for example a BC 309C or a BC 560C...

Yep, it is one of those... the weird 'tone' control, etc. It wasn't the Mayer tweaked FF, rather it was the Orpheum type- AKA the 2 knob Foxey Lady.analogguru wrote:Hmmm....really ?.....from the schematic circulating around ? then you haven´t build THIS....I've built this...

However, I did build it from a schematic that had been floating around for a while, so it may not be exactly the same(didn't compare).
I used 2n5133, I socketed the trannies, and found that they had more grit than 2n5088,89, or mpsa18. Or maybe I fooled myself because they look so cool...
