Hey guys,

A friend made a great recording with a super duper into a bassman.... holy crap, creamy distortion, so perfect.

Is the super duper just 2 cascaded SHOs with no additional control except for a master vol? whats that master vol ckt like?

tried searching super duper, but found nothing..

thx!

2 SHO, cascaded and selectable via switch + 100k master vol at the output of the 2nd stage.

The 100k master volume at the output of the second stage replaces the 100k to ground

guyg, i think that´s not correct !
In the Super Duper there are 2 gain pots and one MV pot, you only have two pots in your schem. .
The gain pots are connected to the BS170 S pin and they are actually C5K.
After the first 10µF cap there is a 100K resistor to ground.
There are 2 switches that controls independently the 2 SHO in the Super Duper, i don´t see them in you schem also.

Are the two switches basically 2 true bypass switches for each one?

we're gettin' there!

I'm currently working on a PCB layout for the 2-in-1 for the guys that still etch!

There are two versions of the SHO, the first one used two diodes for protection I suppose, 150n input cap and 100k to ground output resistor.
Z. had worked a new circuit later without diodes but a zener for protection, a 100n input cap and 47k output resistor (less output). He uses some kind of millenium bypass to avoid popping and a 100µ filter cap (with a small resistor too maybe). All SHO and SD use 10M by the way, you will find 1M only for the JO and BOR boost
If you use two of those last stages in a row with a 3pdt for each one and make the 47k resistor a B50k pot then you will have a Super Duper.

Somehow I felt the headroom is gone when you cascaded stages so when you don't set it up just right you will have two powerfull stages and a lot less powerfull sound when you combine the two.

Hope that helps.

I was thinking doing that myself but i´m short on time for those things and i´m a little slow doing that stuff ! I was thinking in doing a ZVex style pcb with the pots onboard to avoid standoffs ...

hi guyz

my friend in japanese forum told me the vol pot is 50kB

http://www.songofwind.com/img/img59_zvsd2l.jpg

notice that there are 6 trannies on the board
and 2 of DPDT are used
it seems to be millenium bypass

http://www.proguitar.de/ProGuitarPreisl ... rInnen.jpg

to my surprise, later SHO board consists of the HALF of SD's!

Has the vero layout been verified?

The crackle pots in the photos look like they should be C5k.

Thanks,
Rob

I beleive you would be correct here, the pots are C5k reverse log.

I also sometimes see 50 for volume, sometimes 100.

What are the extra transistors, looks like another bs170 and 2N3906 and or 3904? What are they for, maybe a push-pull thing?
