Re: Rockett Allan Holdsworth Overdrive

I saw someone in a Holdsworth FB group say that this is a Blue Note combined with a Lemon Aid. I wonder if anyone has traced this one out yet.

For the record, this is the correct schematic (ignoring the bypass switching). It has been verified with an original unit.

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Just a correction to my post above, I meant to say 3rd order harmonics, not 2nd order. Darn it! :slap: Also, I found that the Brown Channel does only asymmetrical clipping and the Red Channel does mostly symmetrical clipping. Just in case some people here have not seen this article, here is a very i...

Re: Arion SAD-1 Analog Delay (Gut Shots!) [schematic]

The Arion SAD-1 was like the 2nd or 3rd guitar pedal that I ever owned. I always liked it a lot. That was about 1988 when I had my first one. AFAIK, it's not based on any other pedal. It probably was designed directly from the application notes for the IC chips that it uses. I have a page on it at m...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

BTW, I checked out the waveforms on mine this morning, and it was interesting to see that there was some asymmetrical clipping going on in this circuit. Not only that, but the clipping was much more tube-like than other circuits I have looked at. There appeared to be not a whole lot of 2nd order har...

No problem. Just wire it without the switch so that it's in buffered mode all the time.

Your IP address might be in a range that I had to ban at my website because of spammers on my own forum. Usually a proxy server service will let you see them.

Yeah, even an exacto knife can trim some shavings off. It's actually pretty soft metal. Anyway, looks great! Thanks. :P I have it set up I have a blue LED that shows me if the effect is on or off and a bi-color LED that shows me what channel I am on. I kind of like the channel LED because even if t...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Looks good ! How did you cut the hole for the boost switch? Drill and file? Thanks. Yeah, basically that's what I do. I mark up the enclosure with an extra fine Sharpie where the square hole is to be, and then I drill a series of eight small holes. Then I nibble out what's left with some small wire...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Try putting a small electro in parallel with the LED if you can't get rid of the pop. Maybe 10uf or so? Tried that, but it didn't work. I had some time to troubleshoot it this morning. I noticed that I had a crackling noise on the level and tone controls for both channels, so that told me that I ha...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Does anyone else get a pop when switching? I turned up my amp louder this afternoon and I get a big pop on switching, not useable like that. I tried a 1M pulldown resistor on the input, but it didn't help. I guess I might have to try one on the output as well, that happened to me on my TS808 clone. ...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Well, I finished building mine this morning. I only made one mistake on it, which was miswiring the input mode switch. I quite like it, it's pretty cool, with some really nice tones. The only thing I have to figure out now is why my brown channel sounds a little misbiased when the gain knob is below...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

I didn't catch anywhere when I was skimming over this thread that you made your layout for just one channel. The single gain control didn't tip you off? It's fine, I'm glad the labelling is correct, it does get draining sometimes keeping these things up to date, it's not like I get paid for them. I...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Oops, my bad, I meant to say CP2 (100uF) is labeled as C11 on your layout. I know that's the power filter cap, I'm experienced enough to know that. And I know what CP1 (4.7uF) does. I didn't catch anywhere when I was skimming over this thread that you made your layout for just one channel. Th...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

I can't speak for the PCB layout, but I did notice one mistake on the vero layout: what is shown as C11 should be CP1. C11 is missing on the layout. I haven't got to the off-board wiring and switching yet. That's not an error or a mistake, it's a labelling difference. Unless you can be more specifi...
