Re: Devi Ever - Hyperion

Built and verified ivlark´s vero : did a small mod : I put a 10K trim on Q2/Q3 collector-9V rail: it controls gateing : you could dial a nice distortion but without any noise or hiss at al.. and with low setting (2k) you get a splattery totally crazy starve nasal fuzz..kind of fun.. Thank you Ivlark...

Re: HAO - Rust Driver [traced]

Just want to verify Ivlarks latest vero here in this thread: built and works great: thank you Ivlark :D
I used 1n cap fixed on pot lug 2 and ground : didn´t care much for "warm" and "bright" mod.

Re: NPN substitutions

In Meathead ( based on Colorsound One Knob Fuzz) I like 2N3604 (200 hfe) in Q1
and BC 182L (300 hfe) in Q2( BCE pinout). You might want to try BC 550C, also in Q2 :it´s low noise.

Re: EH - Big Muff Pi ( Ram Head, Early Version )

You should try 4xBC 239C (+600 hfe) I´ve used them for a more "modern" Big Muff sound: also as mentioned before : if you put a compressor before Big Muff : it really comes to live: more compressed, sustained fuzz.As fore Gilmour tone : he uses COMP-BM-OD-TUBE AMP: A Big Muff has to be playe...

Re: FR-70 Fuzzrong [traced]

FR-70 Fuzzrong is a take on the Si NPN later version of Fuzzrite : and it´s a little diffrent in the tone pot wirering from what I can see from some board pics I found: also shows Q2 : 2N4401 NPN low hfe.So I´ll try 120-150 hfe for Q1 and 80-100 hfe for Q2. The early Fuzzrite were GE PNP and thats M...

Re: FR-70 Fuzzrong [traced]

I got 2 sets of 3 x OC75 TB from SmallBear : I´ll try them .
Maybe less hiss from them :D
To my ears -3V on Q3 C sounds best for a TB mk3 : and sometimes you´ll
have to tweak some resistors to get there..

Re: FR-70 Fuzzrong [traced]

Mr B. It´s a little of topic here but : :D thanks for your input : i´ve read that tread : I got a SolaSound MK3 with 49-59-90 hfe PNP.It sounds really nice with Q1-2 C: -4V and Q3 c:-3V as pointed out in the thread. And I got a DAM Greasebox GE with 48-59-100 hfe PNP GE : and thats LOUD and wild sou...

Ok Beedotman : Thank you : I will buildt it from your vero and from schematics I got : looks very nice :- and I´ll come back with a report on the build.. And I know all about the "DAM vero buisness" at Turretboard.org: so I won´t publish or use this vero in any commersial way : I´m just a ...

FR-70 Fuzzrong [traced]

This weekend I am planning on building a DAM FR-70 (Si Fuzzrong). It´s a Mosrite Fuzzrite Si version : have done some research here and come across this photo : there´s a 100K (?) extra resistor on VOL lug3 that goes to Output Ground(?)..Can´t see that on any other shematics or board photos/veros.It´...

Re: Biasing a FuzzFace

Thats interesting SoulSonic. For Rangemaster typ boost I find biasing with 5K trimpot on emitter is a great way (just as you describe). For FF I broadbend classic stock values with trimpot on Q1 C (33K) and Q2 C (8.2K) and trim on 330 or 470 ohm (2K trim). I go for 4.5V (or -5.5V for GE) on Q2C and ...

Re: D*A*M - Greasebox GB-83 [traced]

"Played and adjust VR1 and VR2 until I´ll get clean tone without gated buzz." Thats what I did : used my ears : 4.5v is just a starting point :D On GE TB I start with -7V on Q2 col and on SS FF Q2 col at 4.5V. As I wrote before with 260K (Ground-Q1base) : it sound as a good silicon FB : in...

Re: D*A*M - Greasebox GB-83 [traced]

Today I put a 500K pot(VR1) in between Ground-Q1Base. All other values are as shown in Beedotman´s vero above. Then I adjust VR1 until I got 4.5V on Q1 col. VR1 is then 260K. Q2 col is 1.2V. Sounds like a high gain silicon tonbender : unity level at 12" , Int at none..til full.. but don´t clean...

Re: D*A*M - Greasebox GB-83 [traced]

A common NPN boost stage would be something like a Rangemaster : Ground-Q1 base : 68K . 9V-Q1base :470K. 9V-Q1col : 8.2K Ground-Q1em :4.7K And with Incap 10nF it gives a basscut filter of 230 Hz... So a 100K trim in Ground-Q1Base might do the trick .. :D Also I have BC337-25 (hfe 300) and BC337-40 (...

Re: D*A*M - Greasebox GB-83 [traced]

Hallo. If it´s okay to post here instead of Debug thread...as it is under process( not confirmed.) I´ve buildt GB-83 from vero above : but I can´t get Q1 and Q2 to bias . What resistors control BIAS on Q1? Is it the 2 x 470K (ground to Q1 Base and +9V to Q1 base) or is it 8,2K (+9V to Q1 Col ). Also...

I really like this version : Incap 22nf and Outcap 22nf. q1 3904 (250hfe) and q2 bc182L( 320hfe) OBS: BCE pinout . I think it just could "gold" or "black and gold"..there seems to be a lot of versions of Meathead...here´s some great info : http://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/viewtopic....

Re: Colorsound - Power Boost beginners attempt

I always take a superfine sandpaper and goes over the copper rails side and then use cleaning liqour or a cotton cloth. Also put the top of your soldering iron tip direct to the rails and heat it up for 2-3 sec. then applay just a little soldering and let it float out nicely (2 sec).. Take a close l...
