Re: Peavey blazer 158 transtube questions

You should replace that power cord whether it is the cause for noise or not. As a safety measure, you know. Noise could be also related to a dirty input jack or a faulty component or a bad solder point. 4/8/16 ohms always refer to the speaker's nominal impedance so the EXACT number is not important....

Re: 2N929

Interesting.

Datasheet says the hfe range for 2N929 is 40-120, just like a 2N2369A. :hmmm:

Re: 2N929

hfe-wise is very similar to 2N2369A -which is one of the best options for a smooth, low gain fuzz face-.

And probably less noisy because of its lower fT (30 Mhz).

Re: Orange Micro Terror

Seems like a good design to me.

STA540 is not an ordinary chip amp. It has a built-in soft limiter, which is really needed for SS guitar amplification.

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]

Could this circuit be tweaked in order to get a simple peak limiter?

Re: Colorsound - Power Boost / Overdriver

I've have found two things while playing around with this circuit in Multisim. 1) Connecting the 12K resistor as in the 18V "power boost" version results in a huge peak around 120hz. 2) A low value cap (100-470pF) between Q3's base and collector keeps high frequencies and hiss under control.

Power amp is Class-D.

Re: Colorsound - Power Boost / Overdriver

Mods? This thing sounds really great as it is, but needs a master volume badly. That's all.

Yes. In fact, I've tried several tapers and values. Even some series resistance. 25K-B performed reasonably well, but still far from perfect.

I should mention that I built the original circuit, not the modded one. Everything works great except for the Depth knob.

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]

I built this circuit a few weeks ago. The rate LED does work, but it's hardly noticeable if DEPTH is set low. Sadly, this control doesn't do anything from 0 to 7, so you end up with a stompbox that appears to be off pretty much the whole time. Very annoying. I don't recommend using this LED as an ON...

Re: Fuzz Central Axis Face Silicon

There are many low to mid gain transistors to choose from, but a 2n2369A is simply unbeatable in this circuit.

Re: AMT S1 Legend series [gut shots] [schematic]

someone have a good cabsim :?: :?: +1 I haven't been able to get the cab sim to work yet... I tried it about 6 times and no luck. That's really the biggest thing I was looking to reproduce about these AMT pedals! The cab simulation on the AMT pedals is about the best I have heard so I am kinda bumm...

This is not a ROG-style adaptation; it may look different than a Twin but it sounds just like one. Very clever design.

Sounds great!

Nevertheless, I find ROG's emulations just as good with half the complexity.
