This looks very similar to my Kent wah that was made by Shin-ei. Photos in the link below:

Re: Boss Hyper Fuzz (FZ-2)
Is the Hyper Fuzz just a Metal Zone with different values? They look kind of similar.

Re: 1977 MXR distortion + gut shots
I have one with pots dated 1980 and it's very similar to yours. One thing I noticed about yours that's different from mine is the script logo on the back. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/dvoyy/mxr1.jpg https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/dvoyy/mxr2.jpg https://img.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Colorsound - Dipthonizer [schematic]
Beautiful stuff, Boris! It's an amazing sounding pedal, but I'm also quite interested in your cases. Is the wood part just on the sides or are the sides and bottom all one piece? Could you post a photo of one of them with the top off? I doubt I'm the only one here who would like to see how you built...

Last Saturday I bought my first wah at a pawn shop and was instantly converted from an anti-wah guy to a pro-wah guy. But the old wah was cheap and nasty and would be better off in somebody's vintage pedal collection than under my dirty right foot. So I decided to build a new wah, but the wah shells...

Re: Kent WT-1 (Shin-ei) wah
I just took the bottom off the pedal to check again and there's one 1k and one 1k5. In the picture below the 1k is circled.analogguru wrote: Why I can´t see the one 1k, but instead two 1k5 ?

Re: Kent WT-1 (Shin-ei) wah
Biffa, I may just replace the guts with new stuff. I don't know if I want to try and repair this thing or not. It produces white noise and static which only gets worse if I put it in front of a fuzz or distortion and I have no idea where to start to remedy that. (Oddly, the scratchy pot situation ha...

Re: Kent WT-1 (Shin-ei) wah
Since I don't know anything about wahs, I've been doing some research. I found out the Shin-ei wah circuit is based on the Vox. I ran across a good comparison of the various Vox wahs, Crybaby, and others that all use the same basic circuit: http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/TCobrettis-Stu...

OK, as promised, here's a shot of the trace side of the board: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/dvoyy/kent_board_traceside.jpg And for absolutely no reason other than it amused me, here's the stomp switch with a tiny Shin-ei logo on it: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/dvoyy/shin_ei_sw...

Re: Kent WT-1 (Shin-ei) wah
I just went through the board and tried to identify the various parts and they're a bit different than what's on the schematic. Capacitors: two .22uF, one .033uF, two electrolytics that are only marked Tracon 10/25. Resistors: two 470k, one 47k, one 470, one 22k, one 1.5k, one 10k, one 100k, and one...

Kent WT-1 (Shin-ei) wah
This morning at a pawn shop I picked up a Kent wah for the princely sum of $19.99. (I don't know why I bought it since I'm not a wah-wah kind of guy and the only time I get an urge to buy one is when I listen to the first two Stooges albums.) I opened it up at home and saw the Shin-ei logo on the in...

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]
I've been planning to build one of these for eons, but I never seem to get around to it. My main question is whether or not the germanium has to be a 2N404A or will a 2N404 have the requisite mojo? I've got one nice 2N404 that's been sitting around unused for the better part of a year. Also, in timh...

Re: AC176 suitable for NPN Germanium circuits?
If you have your heart set on making a Fuzzface, but only have leaky germanium transistors, put a silicon transistor in Q1 like in Joe Gagan's Easy Face. You'll be surprised at what kind of leaky, low gain garbage germanium transistors you can use in this combination. This Si/Ge sounds great and is ...

Re: DOD 250 Overdrive Comparision Spreadsheet [schematic]
This is a highly useful spreadsheet, snmavronis. I'd love to see corresponding ones for the MXR Distortion+, Ross Distortion, and DeArmond Squarewave. There's also bound to be other pedals that use this same topology. Uzzfay's page on the DeArmond Squarewave: http://members.fortunecity.com/uzzfay/ds...

Re: Fulltone - 69
My guess (and it's just a guess based on nothing really) is that the earlier purple '70 had the diodes in it. A couple of older '70 schematics floating around the internet also have them. But since no one ever has a gutshot of the purple '70 we may never know.

According to ProGuitarShop the Fulltone '70s they were selling until recently had BC108C transistors. http://proguitarshop.com/store/effects-fuzz-pedals-c-7/fulltone-70-fuzz-pedal-p-394 Here's a quote: Not all Fuzz Faces are the same. Re: Fulltone - 69
While I'm surmising, I'll go one step further. Notice how the NKT275 transistors have 'crossed legs' in SpencerPedals' component side picture. Looking at the trace side picture, the point/trace on the lower left corner is the input. Right above that (the second point/trace) is the ground. Both of t...
