I can't remember how to tune it any more, I was way smarter in 2013 and even then I wasn't too bright.
Your probably better of building a "Rangemaster". I don't think Brian used any of my designs.

Re: ValveCaster Mods

Umm? sort of. I would put the diode parallel to the regulator, between C1 and the reg, but yes you have the right idea.

Re: ValveCaster Mods

It all looks ok to me but you could lose the two jumpers by simply soldering the diode to the tracks of pin 1 and pin 3 of the regulator.

Re: BAJA UBS overdrive pedal project 300118 [documentation]

I'm amazed how many different sounds you can achieve out of basically the same topology. And also how easy it is to mod these circuits to suit my own gear and taste. It's a real lesson for me into feedback networks as well. From my limited time playing with these circuits I have noticed that most co...

Turns out the 4k7 just before IC1c was bad, swapped it out and "sha bang" it"s time to rip, thanks for sharing bajaman.

Re: BAJA VH4 overdrive pedal project 290118 [documentation]

Got this on the bread board and it sounds great, that is until I connect up the gain pot and most of the gain disappears and the gain knob acts like a volume knob. I've been going over everything for hours now and i'm stumped. Any ideas?

Re: BAJA VH4 overdrive pedal project 290118 [documentation]

Really fantastic work your turning out bajaman, its much appreciated. I was just wondering if its ok to drop the buffers off this circuit as i dont have the components. I was thinking i could drop every thing before and including the 10k resistor at the input and put the 1m5 before the remaining 1uf...

Maybe "NOS" means it's just a NOS wah from BBE's warehouse. It's great fuckin scam this one.

If we use these boxes, can we sell single transistor circuits for the same price a zackery? If we cascade them can we get even more?

Re: Alembic F2-B Preamp build for custom Yamaha RA-200 rotar

Specifically for Johno (or anyone else who can help): The layout is extremely helpful, but I just have a few newbie questions regarding it. 1. What are the values of the pots? 2. What values do you recommend for C1 and C2? 3. I know this is an incredibly dumb question, but what kind of caps are tho...

Re: Alembic F2-B Preamp build for custom Yamaha RA-200 rotar

I have no idea where to start with it. I think you need to decide how you are going to power it first. Should I use turret board or vero? I think its just a matter of personal preference. I dont think one is better than the other, but one may be more convenient than the other. Still i would use tag...

Re: Alembic F2-B Preamp build for custom Yamaha RA-200 rotar

Here is a pcb layout for the Alembic pre amp minus the eq section, which can be easily made on a small piece of vero. I powered my build from two 12v/150ma transformers wired back to back to give around 300v dc. It's not the best layout in the world but it works.
Enjoy.

Looks like it might be for the lighting led when the pedal is switched on. Rat style or millenium bypass?

Re: VHT S6U Marshall 1959/1987 pre amp mod

Just a quick update. I moved all 4 inputs to the back of the amp into where the effects, line and footswitch were. The pre gains, master and Eq knobs are all on the face of the amp. Still no need to drill any hole in the chassis. The sound? Fucking amazing. It really nails those classic marshall sou...

Re: VHT S6U Marshall 1959/1987 pre amp mod

Ok its all done now. Sounds heaps better and more versatile than it ever was. It took some time to get the layout done but it came out good I think. No mods to the original board are necessary. R37 on the vht schematic needs to be removed from grid to ground on the output tube. I put the pre amp vol...

VHT S6U Marshall 1959/1987 pre amp mod

Here is another mod i came up with. I haven't done the mod yet but will start on a layout today and wire it up soon after. For this one you have to lose the effects loop (I dont use it) but you gain the ability to jumper the inputs for some marshall (well fender actually) magic. Here is the schemo. ...

VHT special 6 ultra cathode follower mod.

Here is a mod i came up with to take the vht from an ok blues machine to a full blown blues machine IMO. I never used the ultra input because it sounds so bad and i'm more of a pedal guy anyway. So i had 1/2 of a tube sitting there doing nothing so i decided to use it as a cathode follower to drive ...
