Re: Buffer adding hisssssssss

If that's a standard op amp voltage follower and you're using an IC socket, you could just take out the IC, connect the input to output in the socket and see if the hiss is still there.

Re: Rocktek Metal Worker

Hey Huevo, I'd like to try tracing your pedal. For that, high resolution images of both sides of the board would be needed - the pictures you posted are way too small. Try to take the pictures as similar as you can, because I'll overlap one onto the other. Also, many of the resistors are vertically ...

Re: Report Forum problems here

That is WAI actually. Nevertheless, it's bad user experience, thank you for making me aware of it. I made it so it is collapsed by default. I used the <details> HTML element so it would work with no JavaScript. Sadly (not really  ), it will not work in Internet Explorer. I don't really care abo...

Forum "vintage" style available

Built a new style called "vintage" for nostalgics out there and renamed the current one to "modern". Keep in mind that "vintage" will not see any changes/improvements/whatever. LATER EDIT: to put things in perspective - we have now 4 members using the "prosilver" style (the old phpBB default style) ...

Re: Report Forum problems here

For anyone wanting the traditional phpBB look:

User Control Panel > Board preferences > My board style > choose "prosilver" (the default phpBB style)

I'd probably could build a style from the version that used your system fonts. But it'll be the stepchild.

LM317 adjustable current source

One option is this (adapted from imajeenyus.com ): lm317_adjustable_current_source.jpg Read the article before building it. According to my calculations, R1 = 22kΩ, R2 = 330Ω, and R3 = 100kΩ would give you current intensity between ∼0.06mA and ∼17.3mA. Of course, measure it before burning your optoc...

Hey, dudes! I hope Modman will not mind me stepping in on this one: before the update of the forum, it had only one layout ("style" in phpBB lingo) - the default "prosilver". The few modifications needed for personalization and usability - logo, full-width, and so on - were done directly in the sour...

Re: MEC WARWICK 3 BAND EQ RF ISSUE

As Bajaman said, the first op amp has a problem. I would take out the TL062, then measure the voltage at pin 3 (in the op amp socket) and resistance from each of the pins 1 and 2 to ground. The voltage should be VR and pins 1 and 2 should have no connection to the ground. I'd also test the electroly...

Re: MEC WARWICK 3 BAND EQ RF ISSUE

You should double check the schematic for R1 - it doesn't make much sense to bias the + input through R3, then connect it to the ground. Also, pins 10 and 5 of TL 064 should get some bias from somewhere. Double also, you may have missed a resistor from pin 14 to pin 6 of TL064. mw3_1.png Other than ...

Re: TDA2030 Amp (Especially "Clean")

Use a notebook power supply - it's cheap, efficient and safe (emphasizing on safe). Messing with electrical power network can be lethal and in your circuit brings no benefit. Your best bet is the datasheet schematic and PCB - it's double tested by the manufacturer. Don't slip on the audiophyle slope...

Re: TDA2030 Amp (Especially "Clean")

Actually, internet is better than always. But the search engines' answers are only as good as your questions. It really helps to know more about whatever you're searcing for. 18V bipolar means three wires from the power supply to the amplifier: one with +9V, one with 0V (or ground) and one with -9V....

Re: AMT - Legend Amp Series 2 [traced]

I was lazy, I knew that Bajaman already tried a J201 in a high-gain stage . But his post didn't have nice graphs so my simple mind overlooked it. Anyway, it's a good starting point for trying other JFETs and other supply voltages. @Bajaman, the datasheets show that the Forward Transfer Admittance pa...

Re: AMT - Legend Amp Series 2 [traced]

The specific JFETs used by AMT (or JEFT with similar characteristics) are not easy to find and replacing them would require a serious analysis of the circuit to preserve the way it works and sounds. So I think it will take a while until someone will diy it. Later edit: Baja, maybe you could do a sim...
