Re: Forum Maintenance & Development News/Announcements

Thank you for alerting us! I was not completely surprised, though. The base theme (on which all other themes build) carries a heavy technological debt, being more than 10 years old. I've done a bit of cleaning, but it appears I neglected some moving parts. I lost patience with the base theme and I s...

Re: Forum Maintenance & Development News/Announcements

Well, we upgraded the web server to a better configuration (should handle loads better) and PHP from 8.0 to 8.2. Quite a jump, although it appears to work nicely.
I apologize for the downtime caused by this.

As always, let us know if something is not right.

Re: Forum Maintenance & Development News/Announcements

Forum software was updated to the last version. The delay after the new version release was two months at the previous update, while at this update it was only two days. That's why this update came so soon after the previous one. Went smoothly, looks good for now. Please let us know if something is ...

Re: Forum Maintenance & Development News/Announcements

My fault, sorry about that. I delayed setting the permissions for the attachments folder (because it takes a lot of time, it's almost 12GB now) until I forgot about it.
Should be all right now.

Thank you for warning us and please let us know if something is still not right.

Re: How to manually add tags to titles

Only one year and almost 5 months later , it occured to me that we could use the reporting system. I added an Add the "Topic Solved" link to the reported post type report.
Click on the exclamation sign button in the toolbar at the top of the post to report. It should work.

Re: Help understanding toggle switches??? Custom pickup switching.

I counted 5 positions, so you could get all of them with a single regular (5PDT, 5-poles/double-throw) 5-way guitar switch. You didn't mention if your humbuckers are splittable or if you want to connect them in series or parallel - the technicalities depend on details. For wiring documentation I lik...

Vintage style favicon issue solved

Found why the favicon dissapeared: the favicon.ico file was missing in the site root and the code of the Vintage style is the only one outdated enough to be confused by that.
The file is back, so the issue on the Vintage style should be gone now.

Available forum styles

Sorry about my scarcity and late answers, I'm swamped with life thingies lately. Right, the styles/themes situation. We have three styles available right now: Vintage - the default "prosilver" phpBB style, only renamed to emphasize its obsolescence/mojo. It will get minimal fixes and adapt...

Re: DIY Class-D poweramp projects using ICEpower 50ASX2BTL?

It is definitely doable. It even provides a ±25V power auxiliary power supply for the preamp. BUT one has to follow the safety regulations and the datasheet to the letter. Be VERY careful - this type of directly-connected-to-the-mains modules makes very easy to kill yourself and/or others [smilie=po...

Re: Groupbuilder.com tried to buy freestompboxes.org

Well, our talk forked quite a bit towards forum software. At that point, I pointed to Invision, which is the one used by those big companies, actually. Modman was probably mislead by the textless link I provided.

Re: Forum Maintenance & Development News/Announcements

I'm unable to search for terms like "BOSS OD-3" , it will now ignore the "OD-3" part in advanced search. Google site:freestompboxes.org "BOSS OD-3" https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Afreestompboxes.org+"BOSS+OD-3" "About 10 results"... is that p...

Re: Beginner Univibe uncertainties

I strongly recommend getting the vocabulary right. Otherwise, people wanting to help you will have a hard time grasping the sense of your questions. And, more importantly, it will make any of your DIY endeavours unnecessarily hard. Just google 'pcb wiki' or 'electronic schematic wiki' to be sent to ...

Re: Rat mod help

Obviously, the mod is the cause of the malfunction, but it's probably about a short on your PCB, not a bad value. One thing I'd do in your place is looking through the PCB with a strong light on the other side. Maybe post here a photo of it. Another thing I'd do is isolating the blocks by lifting a ...
