Digital multimeters DMM: which to buy?
I've been using a friend's old POS for a while now, and would love to get a new one. On a budget of course.
Anyone have any experience with the B&K 2704C?

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Re: DOD250: adding a tone control
The DOD 250 doesn´t deliver very much volume, and the tonestack steals away some more decibels. That´s why many similar pedals have another gain stage after the tonestack... This makes total sense. If I use LEDs as clipping diodes, would this raise the volume level enough to compensate for a tone s...

Re: DOD250: adding a tone control
Thanks a lot for taking the time to make a thorough reply.
So, if I'm understanding correctly, the tone stack is the last thing in the circuit? Essentially, just place it between the output of the circuit board and the volume control?

DOD250: adding a tone control
I'm still really enjoying messing around with my DOD250. I've been reading about tone stacks on pages like this: http://amps.zugster.net/articles/tone-stacks and http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/BigMuffToneControl/ But, being a noob, I can't really grasp how I would add a tone control to the 250...

Black Arts Pharaoh [traced]
Hi everyone, Just ran across a new muff variant that's been getting some buzz on ilovefuzz. The sound samples come off pretty great and the price is reasonable, I feel. http://www.myspace.com/blackartspedals Read somewhere that the tone stack is a Baxandall work-alike. Anyone have any ideas how some...

Re: DOD 250 Diode Switching
Been messing with the 250 some more... i replaced the chip that was in it (some kind of 4558 knockoff) with a lm1458. noticeable improvement. also swapped C1 out for a .056uf and C3 out for a .047uf, as per recommendations I found on the BYOC forums. I also changed C6 out for a .01uf cap. I really l...

Re: DOD 250 Diode Switching
So how did it turn out? Wired the DPDT switch up for 2 1n34a's and LED/1n4001. I then jumpered the diode spots on the circuit board and wired each lead from the DPDT to its own jumper. Pedal made no noise. Switched back to original diodes, all back to normal. What am I doing wrong? Shorting the sig...

Re: DOD 250 Diode Switching
Still waiting on some 1n34a diodes in the mail.
Right now, the board is just set up with an LED and a 1n4001. Sounds really good, can't wait to get the switch in.

Re: Foxrox - Wah before fuzz retrofit ( buffer )
What I did with mine is I lowered the value of the emitter resistor in the first stage. That was simple and improved the wah sound as well. BTW- my post was not a direct response to you. I just happened to read this thread for the first time in a year or so. It just boggles my mind how people in ge...

Re: Foxrox - Wah before fuzz retrofit ( buffer )
Funny how no one actually reads the threads... In between all the posts gushing over layouts on the first page, there's a couple posts that explain how this works. R3, the 22k series resistor is the key to the whole thing. The op amp is simply a gain of 2 non-inverting amplifier. There's no reason ...

Re: Foxrox - Wah before fuzz retrofit ( buffer )
Hi all,
Getting started on building a couple of these for my old wahs. Neither of them have 9 volt jacks, they only have battery power.
How do I go about wiring them up? I'm sure its simple, but I'm pretty new to this. Thanks a ton.

Re: DOD 250 Diode Switching
Thanks a ton, Rowland. I assume I can wire a mini-toggle DPDT the same way? I'm stoked. Just one follow up question though...how do you you wire the leads into the board? I imagine you hook up one wire to a (-) side of a diode spot and one into the opposing (+) side? does it matter which? do you hav...

DOD 250 Diode Switching
Hi all, I recently bought a new DOD 250 and I want to put in a two position switch for the clipping section: position 1: two 1N34A diodes position 2: two LEDs Apart from being able to solder, I am totally new to this stuff. What kind of switch would I need and how would I wire this? I'm sure there c...
