Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

breadboarded and sounds awesome! im dropping my sparkle drive for this. however, is there any reason to have that much filtering in the power section? the 2 100n caps to ground and the 100u cap parallel with the 47k resistor, are they really necessary? all the other BB clones ive seen dont have tho...

Re: JHS Mini Bomb- Gutshots and values

He's already starting to go the the SMD route. He's got the JFETS on the bottom side of the board in his Superbolt

https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic ... 20#p216547

And I think the new Prestige Boost, or whatever it is, is entirely SMD

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

Thanks for the direction on the PTC. I wonder if there were markings on the other side that I missed. It's definitely the Littelfuse series, and from the LF30 marking, it's the 30R series. Here is the datasheet. I just don't know which of these it is. http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/240/Littelfuse_30R-19...

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

Also, I'm an idiot in the way I worded the, "there is continuity on both legs"... what I meant to say was:

Both legs are connected to +9v, one side is connected by a track, the other side is connected to the V+ plane

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

I don't have the unit any more. But this is the only pic I got of that part and it unfortunately is blurry. The markings I could make out, and very well could be wrong were:

LF 30
BH3E

It was extremely difficult to read, so I have no idea if that is correct.

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

Not sure what the yellow part is at the top My guess is a 100nF multilayer ceramic to help the electrolythic cap filter out high frequency noise in the supply voltage. Or a decoupling cap for V+ On the silkscreen it's labeled "F1" and the symbol there is for a thermistor, but it definitel...

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

Got one of these in and traced it. Here you go!

Not sure what te yellow part is at the top. But there is continuity between both legs and the voltage is the same on both sides, so I left it off the schematic, if anyone has an idea, I'd love to know.

Re: JHS Morning Glory [traced]

I wish I had one to fully trace, but someone I know who has a double barrel (but lives states away from me) was kind enough to let me know that the opamp is a LM833N.

Re: JHS - Honey Comb Tremolo [traced]

Yeah, no problem. I do not have any trace shots, this was all speculation. The only one I went off of to get started was the one on JHS' site . Just by counting parts, it's extremely similar to the Improved EA (i count 17 resistors, looks like there are some extra caps as I count 13, 4 transistors, ...

Re: JHS - Honey Comb Tremolo [traced]

Not sure why I haven't posted this sooner, but here is a build doc I put together for what I did with mine. Again, this is for a Honeycomb Deluxe workalike (not a clone). If this needs to be moved into a different thread, please do so, and sorry if it's in the wrong place. Hope you enjoy.

Re: JHS - Honey Comb Tremolo [traced]

I asked about this on another forum and the conclusion was that it's based on the EA Tremolo (this looks like it might be the original, as where the Deluxe looks like it's the "improved" versions). With the help and guidance of culturejam and some digging around, I made a Honeycomb Deluxe ...

they are the same, save the one electrolytic i mentioned and the onboard charge pump. a friend of mine played a Superbolt, then built the ROG pedal the following day and said it was the same pedal he played the day prior. he said the switch was slightly different, but that's most likely the differen...

Re: JHS SuperBoat [traced]

Looking at the gut shot, the whole top area is the charge pump. If you take those 4 caps, 3 diodes, and IC out, the parts add up to the same as the Supreaux Deux (not sure about the values), except for the electrolytic that is toward the bottom. Wonder what that could be doing?

Re: DIY Power Supply Questions

Sorry to resurrect this one from the dead, but I just wanted to see if running the transformers in parallel worked for you? I was thinking about doing the same thing in an upcoming project, but I cannot find a concrete yes or no on whether it is ok to do that. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]

What are the board dimensions for mictestor's PCB? When I go to print the image at "100%" scaling the board still prints huge.
