Re: My DIY Sloclone 50 Amp Build

This amp effectively has three channels, clean, crunch, and overdrive, channel-switching is done using five vactrols which are basically a Led (Light Emitting Diode) and an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) encapsulated in black plastic, one of the five vactrols is used to mute one channel so it doesn'...

Re: My DIY Sloclone 50 Amp Build

All I need to do now is order a set of 5 vactrols online from Evatco, solder them in place on the tagboards, and then all the circuitry will be finished, and then all that will be left to do is order the new power transformer, output transformer, choke and full set of JJ tubes, do all the final wiri...

My DIY Sloclone 50 Amp Build

Hey Everyone, I'm currently in the process of working on a diy Sloclone 50 Tube amp build, it is basically a 50W Soldano SLO, but, I'm planning on using a pair of matched JJ KT77 power tubes instead of 5881 tubes as used in the original SLO 100, I've never tried KT77 tubes before, apparently from wh...

Re: Ibanez TSA30 tubescreamer amplifier - how to fix it so it works properly ! !

Bajaman, I'm going to make an educated guess and say that I think the reason why the grounds were done so poorly by Ibanez at their factory, is most likely because the bean counters at Ibanez got too involved in the design process, my current working theory anyway.

Re: Fender Super Twin Amplifier

Update: Looks like I'm going to have to do some service work on my Fender Super Twin amp, it is producing some crackly noise, and it loses a lot of volume if the treble control is set to a particular setting, the amp definitely isn't sounding as loud as it should even when the preamp and master volu...

Re: Marshall MA 100C 100 Watt All Valve Amplifier

Thought I would post a new update on my Marshall MA100C amp so here goes...... It's looking like I'm going to have to order a full set of new replacement pots for my MA100C amp, reason being is that both of the channel master volumes are sounding a bit crackly when I adjust them, also the presence k...

Re: My Boss Katana KTN-100 Mk II Digital Modelling Amp

There is also an extended app that can access all the hidden features of the DSP, this gives you access to many more amp models and a really nice interface. You can install both the Boss tone studio and the extended katana app on your computer and still use them both. The extended app for hidden am...

Re: My Boss Katana KTN-100 Mk II Digital Modelling Amp

Boss provide a special app you can use to set-up custom sounds on each of the eight-user programmable channels, you can chain up to five virtual pedal models on each of the eight channels and store them as presets, editing each channel is very easy using the app which Boss call the Boss Tone Studio,...

My Boss Katana KTN-100 Mk II Digital Modelling Amp

Not sure if there already is a thread about one of these, but anyway, I thought I would start a thread about my Boss Katana KTN-100 Mk II digital modelling guitar amp, I bought this last year if my memory serves me right, I decided to buy one because a, it's lighter than my Marshall amp so I no long...

Re: Univox - Univibe (Uni-vibe)

I lashed up a test pot for Univibes using a dual 100k linear pot and a DIN plug. Worked a treat (but I can't find it now!). It's worth noting - some Univibe oscillators will work with the pedal unplugged - but very slowly! I had a good look at the LFO circuit in the UniVibe schematic, it looks like...

Re: Peavey Backstage Plus 35W Guitar Amp

Hi, Curious if you managed to find that non-standard dual pot for the saturation-position? Have a 'non-Plus' Backstage upcoming which uses the same pot, and it seems to be scratchy... Thanks Actually no, I really tried my hardest to find a replacement 10k/1k dual-gang pot but unfortunately I couldn...

Re: My Old 80's Tascam M-520 Analog Mixing Desk

Check out this youtube video (skip to about the 5:00 mark), I think this is a pretty good example of what a Tascam M-520 in good working condition sounds like, I like the fat, warm analog sound he's getting, sounds pleasant to listen to:

Re: My Old 80's Tascam M-520 Analog Mixing Desk

Thats cool man. I'm in the process of rebuilding an old mixer for recording. So far two channels are sounding nice and clean, with a little vibe. So far I am pleased. Good luck and have fun! Cheers, some of the restoration work that needs to be done on my Tascam M-520, is to get rid of the rust/cor...

Re: My Old 80's Tascam M-520 Analog Mixing Desk

Cheers karul,

Will do, some of the channel-strip panels have a bit of rust/corrosion on them, I was wondering where I could get a set of replacements in reasonable condition, I just need a set of metal panels, I think the circuit-boards are probably okay.

My Old 80's Tascam M-520 Analog Mixing Desk

Hey Everyone, Earlier this week, one of my best friends dropped-off for me at my place an old 80's Tascam M-520 20 Ch Analog studio mixing desk, plus the power supply, this is going to be a fun restoration project for myself because I'm planning on using it in my studio hopefully with my Focusrite S...

Re: Zonk Machine - why can't I get my OC44 working?

I built a Tonebender Mk I, which is very similar to the Zonk Machine schematic you posted in this thread, while in the process of building my Tonebender Mk I, I found out that some of the transistors do need to have some leakage in order to work, and bias-up properly in the Mk I circuit, notice how ...

Could possibly be a bad contact in the switch that turns the led on or off.
