Re: Pedal hisses when it's off (Nobels OCR-1)
(I can't see the edit button) another quick thing you could do if you want a few seconds attempt at a fix is to reflow the solder joints on those transistors, but again, a measurement helps more so, even some voltages and this might not be definitive, could be something else at play.

Re: Pedal hisses when it's off (Nobels OCR-1)
Fantastic! Yeah, my first bet still stands that it will be something such as a bad joint or possible bad component around either/or both Q4 and Q6. If you can make/have an audio probe to take audio measurements with, it'd be worth having a look at the in and out of each of those JFETs to see if the ...

Re: Pedal hisses when it's off (Nobels OCR-1)
I'm assuming when you say off, you mean when a) the pedal is plugged in? b) the pedal is bypassed? Just asking to try and narrow it down. In the meantime, I found a schematic. http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Distortion%20Boost%20and%20Overdrive/Nobels%20ODR-1.pdf To give you an i...

Re: Human Gear - Animato [traced]
Very weird bump but I thought I'd make a sneaky suggestion to those playing at home/have one of these. I spent a fair while wondering how on earth to reduce some of that noise floor. There was a very prevalent hiss in the original and even the ones I started making had a bit of the same hiss too (ev...

Re: JHS Tidewater
Interesting, I just noticed that you pictured a Rev 1.2 and I have a 1.3. Already noticed there's no P1 designation on my board. (actually, what is that for?) The revision I have also doesn't have that extra obnoxious LED. https://imgur.com/a/X0odgDl https://i.imgur.com/Dm12ecQ.jpg

This is missing many values, if you have a method to suggest measuring SMD caps without being destructive, I'd massively appreciate it Um, yeah, long story short, my bandmate bought one and I had a sneaking suspicion it was a tweaked EA Tremolo. Yep, it's looking like it. Couldn't do more than just...

Re: mtLab - FAT Humster
Yeah, I might give that a go next time I touch it. Even I agree it is quite odd. It was the only part I had real difficulty working out.

mtLab - FAT Humster
This is the mt'Lab FAT Humster. I don't really know much more about it other than it got some brief use by Chris Wolstenholme of Muse during the song Defector on the Drones tour. A very brief clip of the pedal was demoed on an Instagram post https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIMAVIDeLcg Haven't verifi...

Re: Best way to model guitar signal?
I should have mentioned that it is naturally going to be different throughout a course of a note. The attack will most definitely be in the high range, sometimes even approaching 1V amplitude. If I could find it, there was a nice way to simulate a guitar pickup in LTSpice using a transformer and/or ...

Re: Best way to model guitar signal?
Try using 100mV/0.1V first. 1V is rather high.

Re: Human Gear - Animato [traced]
Yep, what John said. Basically, any low gain gemanium pair should suffice and will give you plenty of oomph. The trimpot should give you more than enough range to play around with. and IMO, you won't need to set it terribly high either. :) You can even use one germanium and one silicon transistor an...

Re: Idiotboxeffects Blower Bass [traced]
^ +1. Fantastic options. If you want to preserve the overall integrity but raise the volume, the recovery gain stage is the best option. Interesting though that there is a Bax tone section without recovery, damn that RAT punches hard.

Re: Rubber feet just... fall off
I've had no issue with using the 3M adhesive brand feet, even after finishing. I'd say add a tiny bit of epoxy and/or gently scuff up the area where you are putting the feet just to give the adhesive more to hold onto. Hmm...

Re: human gear animato (veroboard)
Fantastic. The influx of clones, arise!
I might add, probably best to use 2N5088 for the Muff section if you cant get a hold of some 2SC2240's. IIRC, the transistors I used had a HFe around 400-500.

Re: Human Gear Animato - WIP [traced]
I'm probably going to have to keep this pedal now, since I assume the price will plummet. :slap: Also... it actually sounds damn good with my bass. On the contrary, look at first series Klons and their prices. In addition, you got promoted to Degoop Doctor. We also need a direct link to last ...

Re: Human Gear Animato - WIP [traced]
Hi again, got the clone working. The clone has loads more gain, has ever so slightly less mids but has less noise and sounds clearer IMO. Not a pretty pedal by any means but I just wanted function over form. https://i.imgur.com/pYrWn83.jpg Put some sound clips up for a listen. I'll have to fix one e...
