Re: MXR MicroChorus BBD Mod

Sorry for the late reply, MNs chips usually are clock-hunger chips, than SADs... Just remember, SAD512 is 512 stages BBD while 3007 is 1024 stages, but SAD got internal clock divider in order to provide the 2 clock phases needed. Then with the same VCO clock you should achieve the same delay time. W...

Re: MXR - Micro Chorus [schematic]

On my test circuit, I used the first transistors couple I found in my drawer... BC549 I simply reversed the tranny case... Any NPN BJT should work, just check out clock frequency, if it gets too low, it will "whistle" or make funny/annoying noises, in case, just lower caps value I don't kn...

You can try and check tracks continuity, while stressing PCB...

Re: XO Stereo Clone Theory issues

on this datasheet https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet ... N3007.html you can see diagrams traced with supply voltage up (down?) to -5V.
In my personal experience, I couldn't get MN3007 working very well below 12V, surely really bad under 9V.

Re: XO Stereo Clone Theory issues

MN30xx chips have pin 1 voltage more positive than pin 5, whereas MN32xx chip have pin 1 voltage more negative than pin 5.
What you use as GND is inifluent, as long as pin 1 is more positive than pin 5 for MN30xx

Re: XO Stereo Clone Theory issues

@ MN's out pins you got the same signal injected at pin 3 altough delayed and "chopped".
@ 4047's pins 10-11 you got clock, it should be a square wave. When it suddenly drops below ultrasonic frequencies, you can hear the noise recorded in mp3 n°2

Re: XO Stereo Clone Theory issues

You can hear that noise when there's loss of power supply in chorus or flanger usually, that's why I thought about issues in tracks or cold solders.
If you have DMM with max/min function, you can check supply at VCO, the clock chip.
BTW, it occurs in particular circumstances? Is it repeatable?

Re: XO Stereo Clone Theory issues

what about the other weird sounds (the one at the start and the one at the end of the video) It looks related with power supply noise to me... the oscillation looks like a power supply loss in clock generator it's really strange rate pot can make those heavy scratches. Sure there's no cold solder o...

0V on pins 6-7 suggests you have a short between pot's pin(s) and GND (enclosure perhaps?)

Re: DOD - 230 ( Noise Gate )

Yes, if you connect the pad connected to 4066's pin 5 to GND, via one (foot)switch, you will force the effect to be always on.

Scruffie wrote: 24 Feb 2022, 12:38 That's the envelope section, seems the audio is dealt with passively and the output is pin 2 of the 4066.
I know, I was looking at the schematic posted...
I think the pad marked OUT is actually the footswitch connection, other switch's pin should go to GND.
