Re: Carl Martin - PlexiTone [traced]

I know this thread is a bit old but I just found out about tthe plexitone via some fantastic sounding youtube demo's. I want this pedal! Now, two common complaints that seem to crop up are too much bass and a bit much gain. I was thinking that since it's essentially a FB loop diode clipper, implemen...

Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

Paul, on another subject, would you mind telling us what kind of clear coat you're using on your pedals? It seems to be pretty tough and shiny. I'm using some clear now that seems kind of "plastic-y", I'd like a more professional finish. I assume you're using a 2 part self hardening auto ...

Re: Lovepedal - Purple Plexi 800 [goop-alarm] [traced]

Uh, oh. That sputtering decay you guys are talking about is a deal killer for me. I was going to build this pedal but now I don't see the point. BTW LOTS!!! of pedals seem to do this. The blues driver was the first one that caught my ears. Ever since I heard it, any pedal that doesn't pass the smoot...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]

Torchy thanks for the link. I had seen the schem but missed the little window with the GGG mods. At the risk of being redundant yet again. Can you explain what each of these mods does and how they are an improvement over the stock circuit? I've played through an actual KOT so I know its a really goo...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]

OK so lets say I wanted to get the GGG bluesbreaker kit and mod it as close to KOT specs without cutting any traces or adding any parts. What are the core mods to the basic circuit to improve the tone?

Re: Zvex - Box of Rock [traced]

Wow, Im shocked you don't hear the bass response increase as the gain goes up. Its a known issue with this pedal that has been discussed ad nauseum on the gear page. The bass is overbearing when the gain is at 3:00 - its muddy on the low strings. It clears up considerably when the gain is at noon.

Re: Tune the Bass Response? [traced]

Does anybody have any suggestions on what changes you might make to reduce the bass response of this pedal? I am a relative noob, and have a few meager thoughts, but would like some input from you wonderful folks who really know this stuff. Thanks! I wish ZVEX would incorporate some kind of bass re...

The red and blue sound like diode clippers. The new Black has this description: The Gain Stage Black started out in the design phase as a clean boost with character. I didn't want "transparency" , which to my ears, more often meant "sterile sounding. When the prototypes started sound...

Earlier in this thread there were a couple posts from people who had breadboarded both circuits and found the OCD to be a big improvement over the VLOD. I'm no expert but I don't think the circuits are identical. It's obviously based on the VL but he's tweaked it quite a bit , no? And he continues t...

According to a couple folks over at TGP there is a new 4th revision of the OCD. Fulltone has not mentioned it on his website and my guess is that he doesn't want to do upgrades of older pedals as he had done in the past. The Pic is the gut shot of an actual production model OCD taken by the TGP'er w...

Ok.... FYI there is apparently an OCD V.4 which includes a couple mods found on the gear page for reducing bass AND a germanium diode attached to one of the mosfet clippers. Apparently Fulltone keeps up with user community tweaks and critiques. Here's a gut shot Screenshot from 2018-06-29 00-43-05.p...
