Re: BOOBS ...and valve question

the parallel capacitor should add better treble response, quite hifi and broutike. So it will just shift the frequency more into the treble side? That's odd, I was sure it will reduce the treble response due to paralleling with bigger (25uF) cap Didn't see the schematic, but if the 25uf is in parra...

Re: Tone Rider pickups

I really like my Tonerider Rocksong Humbuckers. My blacktop HH strat humbuckers were 17k+, even in the neck pickup. Way too dark. The toneriders are alot more balanced. Worth the price.

Re: Fred Briggs - Super OCD

No biggie, we all have our moments. For instance, I misspelled your name twice. I have an OCD V4, and wish it had an actual tonestack, because it seems pretty limited as is. I little bright for my strat, but when I turn the tone down, I lose definition. I don't think a rotary switch would work thoug...

Re: Fred Briggs - Super OCD

Marsound, It looks like you are reading the 9v and pin 8 points on the schematic backwards. On the schematic, the Point marked "V in" is connected to the + terminal of your battery or wallwart. The point marked "V+" on the schematic is connected to the other V+ point on the schem...

Re: Fred Briggs - Super OCD

Marsound, Check again. There is no error. 9v connects to one side of the 100r resistor. The + lead of 47uf and the otherside of the 100r resistor are then connected to pin 8 (along with one side of the 15k resistor). Unless there are other schematics and layouts then the two I have seen in a quick s...

Re: Fred Briggs - '64 - Vintage Vox Tones :)

briggs, I tried mine with a couple of different old button style 2n3565, but it is lacking in treble. I'm wondering if it's just that maybe the older versions of these transistors are darker sounding. I was hoping for a little more U2, hehe. Have you tried any other transistors in that circuit that ...

Along with the 2.2M that's already in parallel with the LDR, or in place of the 2.2M?

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]

I bought a 5 pack of photocells at Radioshack to try this circuit out thinking that one of them would measure 5M in the dark, but they all measure infinite resistance in the dark. Are these unusable in this circuit?

Re: 555 Fuzz

I tried this circuit again with a different 555 and got different results. With this second try, I could not get an audio output without doing two things: a) adding resistance in series with the V+ pin and b) decreasing the voltage for the bias resistor on pin 4 to zero. I was able to obtain nearly...

I like the sounds you're getting out of this circuit. Almost sounds like a backwards effect in places. Very nice. Any revisions yet?

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

I have a little noob question. Aren't each of those mosfet inverter pairs on the cd4049ub identical? Then why are the pairs out of order in the schematic, causing you to cross over the signal multiple times. On the pins of the opamp why does it go through 7-6, 3-4, then 5-2? Why doesn't it just go 7...

Re: Catalinbread - SFT [traced]

In the photos, I think i can make out the code "102" on two of those capacitors. The other two look to be the same size. 102=1nf right? Which means RnFR is right. 2nf.

Re: Catalinbread - SFT [traced]

R18 I can see in the original drawing but to the right of the 10k (R17, source Q7 connecting to ground). C12 and C2, in the original drawing connect to the source further down the trace (i.e. the drain of Q2, gate of Q3 and source of Q1 all connect together)... I've also attached my exported schema...

Re: Catalinbread - SFT [traced]

RnFR, are you trying to make the pdf like the original drawn schematic on pg 3? If so, then C9 and C10 should .2uf instead of .02uf. In the drawn schematic, C2 passes over the source of Q2, whereas you have it connected to the source in the pdf. C12 also has the same wiring disparity. You've also ad...

Re: Piggyback Si transistors to simulate Ger ???

How Identical do the two transistors have to be for piggybacking? Do you just need the same name transistors, or do you need to test them to find exact matches? Just the same type. I tried it with some 2n0588 and it sounded pretty good. give it a shot and see what you think. Thanks. I plan on actua...

Re: BJF - Honey Bee Overdrive degooped [traced]

Finally applied Bajaman's mods to my pedal and it sounds much better. I still have intermittent octave down transients in the sound, but it is lessened for some reason. I think that will go away when I switch to the original ic. I like the slight treble boost that it gives. Should be a nice companio...

shortscalemike, those layout gremlins can be so frustrating sometimes. Personally, I have a wiring gremlin. I can't tell you how many times i've finished a pedal, screwed on the base, and turned it over, only to find out that that pesky gremlin wired my input and output jacks backwards.

Re: Emma - Reezafratzitz [ goop-alarm ] [traced]

Ok guys.. since we are discussing bout the 4049 and 4069, can anyone tell me the difference between the 4069 and the 74C04? Looking at the datasheets, both are hex invertors... are we able to swap them? It would be nice to hear more about the difference between all three of these. Especially in the...
