Re: Crazy Tubes - Ziggy Overdrive [traced]
I bought some cheap 2cm*8cm double-sided protoboard/perfboard on Ebay and wanted to make a layout. The goal was to have no jumper-links, no "standing" resistors and naturally to make it fit the small board. I didn't completely reach my goal with the standing resistors, but that is where my...

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]
Try a sustained single note instead of strumming. The effect should be more noticeable that way. Also try to compare a full chord vs. a single note. The volume should be similar with the compressor on. With the compressor off the chord should be quite a bit louder than single note. Tests should be d...

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]
I use the volume knob often. I think that it boils down to how you use your gear. If you use different setups (amps and pedals) after the compressor you'll want the volume knob. Also if you change guitars and want to keep volume at "unity" then you'll need the volume knob. If you on the ot...

It's fine that they are on the same track. That is a 0 ohm connection! I ment that you could measure with a multimeter that the connection is good. If the connection is not good you will often hear the high pitch sound.

Re: Soul Sonic - Folk Driver, The Honey Bee Challenge!
I had a one-knob boost pedal that I never used in a 1590a type box. I wanted to reuse the parts and made a perf-layout that would fit the very limited space that the booster circuit had occupied. I now have a Folk Driver with one big volume knob that I can turn with my foot, and the other knob is st...

Re: Stupidly Awesome Buffer [documentation]
It seems old habits are better than bad habits. I googled around a bit after writing my last reply.´There are indeed situations where the NC pins are connected internally to do calibration or other things. In this specific case it would be better to not connect pin 8 since there is nothing connected...

Re: Stupidly Awesome Buffer [documentation]
I was under the impression that a pin marked as NC could be connected to what ever you wan't. That there would be no connection to anything internally inside the IC itself.

Re: Gristleizer [documentation]
The Bias knob should for sure be linear.
The level and Depth should probably be linear as well and the Speed be log, but they seem fine to me the way I’ve written them.
The letters A and B must have confused me…

Re: Gristleizer [documentation]
Here is my perfboard layout for the Gristleizer. It's quite compact and will fit in a BB sized enclosure. With some very carefull planning it could perhaps fit in a B sized box as well, although I don't know if that would be very practical. I used as per Mictesters suggestion LM833 in the audiopath ...

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]
I agree that it is generaly a better solution to have the resistors all flat to the board. I never make pedals for anyone but myself and I don't mind standing resistors that much. I make sure that they don't touch the aluminum box though!

Re: Really Cheap Compressor [documentation]
Here is a perfboard layout that with some carefull planing fits in an A-size box. Thanks to Mictester for sharing this fine compressor. I build mine with a ne5532 and a bright switch (as discussed by others earlier in this threat). I used a ldr called GL5528 found dirt cheap on ebay. Really Cheap Co...

There has to be sound on the pt2399. You have to feed the pedal a signal (get a friend to play some guitar etc.)
If the is no sound at the chip, the pedal will not function at all...

The easy way. Buy other chips.
I've tried using them as well, and I've found that it's all about how you use them. Search around a bit and I'm sure you be wiser. I've found that even wires running close by can produce the sound...

Re: Fame Sweet Tone Repeat That AD-10 bugged
Does the switch make any difference in the sound at all. I found that mine altered the tone quite a bit when on (also the direct sound). If there is no difference at all I would suspect the switch somehow. Also does the led light up? If there is a difference in the sound and the led goes on, but no ...

Re: Snarling Dogs Very-Tone Dog
If you don't mind a drop in volume then passive is just fine. I don't know if it would work in this content, but putting a pot and a cap i series makes "a variable cap". Connect that to the inductor, and that way you would not need a selector at all and have a sweepable freq. It just seems...
