Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive [traced]
Looking again at the photos, it seems to me that 390 ohms resistors could be 3.9K. I know that in a LPB-1 the stock value is 390 ohms, but with 3.9K I think that it sound more than an overdrive. 100% positive the resistor off the emitter of Q2 is 390Ω. I have some good pics of it and it is for sure...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive [traced]
Another correction of the schematic the connection of pin 3 of the level potentiometer to ground was still missing. Technically, not a correction to the schematic based on the original. The original didn't have leg 3 of the level pot connected to ground. At least the two I've worked on didn't. I do...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
Just posted the pot values/taper but I haven't measured C3. If I have time I'll open it back up, pull the resistor and measure it. I've just been swamped lately. Have you measured the value of C3 in the meantime? Sorry it took so long to get around to doing this. It's just been a nightmare. Coincid...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
Hi Bside2234 The level potentiometer is not grounded, but it should be in order to function. Have you already measured the potentiometer values? Correct. The Level pot is not grounded. The level control worked very poorly. I grounded it and works much better as expected. Level was 50K-A and Drive i...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
I went through it again and found out the diode/cap legs were just hitting the gain pot 2 as they are super close in the pedal and the jack must have turned a little giving me continuity between in jack tip and the diodes/cap. Also pulled R7 to measure it and it is indeed 100K. Updated the schematic...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
In the product information the following is written: Two stages of amplification are cascaded to provide a lot of push for the Germanium clipping diodes creating a very responsive overdrive that can go from warm semi-clean to full on classic rock crunch and saturated lead tones. https://www.lounsbe...

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
Well, I have to replace the switch so maybe I'll pull the resistor and measure it if I can do it cleanly. Just to be sure. Not my pedal so I don't want to mess with the freeform circuit too much.

Re: Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive Traced [traced]
Stripes are brown-orange-black-black-brown so I guess it could be 100K if looked at the other way. The brown stripe opposite the orange was offset more so I took it as the tolerance band.

Loundsberry Nigel Touch Overdrive [traced]
I received one of these in for repair. First thing that struck me odd was the spaghetti of wires. Then I saw the diodes and cap on the input jack. Now I had to trace it and figure out what was going on. It says true bypass right on the front by the footswitch. :) I couldn't read the value of C3. It'...

Re: Red Witch Empress [gut shots]
Can someone tell me what the value of R44 is up by the DC jack connections on the PCB? Repairing one and it's burnt. I think I can make out a ?30 or something.

Re: Guyatone - WR-3 Wah Rocker 3 [schematic]
I've got a load of op amps on the way at the moment so hopefully in a few days i'll be able to bang it on the breadboard and see if I can get it working. I was looking at the pot wiring compared to the first schematic and thought it looked a little odd, the one further up this page looks a lot easi...

Re: Guyatone - WR-3 Wah Rocker 3 [schematic]
Did anyone ever get the vero layout on the first page working? I think some pot connections are missing Just look at the included schematic for the pot wiring. VR2/1 goes to ground while VR2/2 connects to C11. Looking at the vero, I don't think it's right. It has C11/222 to ground instead of the po...

There's a problem if you use the "mark forums read" link in the board index page If you wait for the automatic return to the index page, an error occurs: An error occurred during a connection to https://www.freestompboxes.org:80. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible...

Re: 2020 forum updates - work in progress [RESOLVED]
Niticed occasional error during login - SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG I got this today also. PC/Firefox. It wouldn't load in the current window due to this error but I opened another tab and it seemed to work fine. Edit: The second I hit submit the error came back: Secure Connection Failed An error ...

Re: MXR Sustain - NOT the nasty Dynacomp!
The MXR Dynacomp (and the almost legendary "Ross" variant of it and all the hundreds of boutique clones) is actually a pretty poor design. The fundamental problem is the OTA (Operational Transconductance Amplifier). In the Dynacomp, it's a CA3080. The "mojo" version of this IC (...
