Re: Bearfoot - Model H [traced]
Hello, I am interested in this pedal, I have built the dyna red distortion and its great¡¡... I have the vero of this almost finished... I would like to know if the biasing of the two first jfet is the standard at vcc/4,5 vcc? we have some voltages to check? In the dyna red there is a 5458 that is w...

Re: BJFE - Emerald Green Distortion Machine [traced]
Hello, Im am interested in doing this build as I am built another two bjfe designs (drd and model h) and I am very addicted to his designs, sound great and the responsiveness are huge, I think this pedal live to the hype¡¡ The original version use a bjt in q2, I dont have any germanium to try, so I ...

Re: BJFE - Dyna Red Distortion [traced]
Update¡¡ I cut the input and output stripes and voila¡¡¡¡ no squealing¡¡¡ Thank you very much Ichabod¡¡¡ And change the 100n in the filter to a 470n and now it have much more body and less nasal sound and brittle, more like it should be, i think its safe to say that is the correct value for this cap...

Re: BJFE - Dyna Red Distortion [traced]
Yes, i was thinking the same, the pedal is traced of a unir that os moded, It had a 470pf instead of a 100-220 pf in the feedback loop, the people mistaken this with tthe 0'47 uf on the filter and sub it with a 100n. Very interesting about the traces, i am going to try to cut a little. Thanks for yo...

Re: BJFE - Dyna Red Distortion [traced]
Thanks for your answers Ichabod_Crane!! Yes the squeal I think its rf related or maybe becouse the vero layouts, sometimes the vero layout put certain traces very close each other... I put this on hold until the circuit will be boxed... But I am confused by two "variables" found on the dif...

Re: BJFE - Dyna Red Distortion [traced]
I finished this build, sound fine¡¡ but I have a strange behaviour, if i raise the gain, a high pitched squeal appears, but if the pedal is after a buffered effect in bypass is absolutely silent¡¡ . Maybe because it isnt boxed yet is the cause?? Also the output is low compared to other effects and, ...

Re: BJFE - Dyna Red Distortion [traced]
Helloe, I am buildind this pedal right now, I am using a vero layout of dirtyboxes. https://dirtboxlayouts.blogspot.com/2019/06/bearfoot-fx-dyna-red-distortion-4-knob.html#comment-form I noticed two things, Its curious that the designer used Electrolytics for a 1 uf, its a value that usually its fit...

Re: How much gain out of a jack ormans mosfet booster?
Thanks for the answer folks!!! The 35 db is mentioned by the designer: http://www.muzique.com/schem/mosfet.htm it says:"Depending on the device used, maximum gain should be about 35dB and minimum ~3 dB. The source resistor is bypassed by a large capacitor in series with a variable resistor used...

How much gain out of a Jack Orman's MOSFET booster?
Hello Im not able to put put more than 14 db-15 db out of a jack orman mosfet booster, its biased at 5.3 v and Im using a bs170 ( with less volt the results are the same) and I have try a dozen, with the same results not near the 35 db that theoretically you can pull out of this... Its for the trann...

Re: Pete Cornish - TB-83 [goop-alarm]
Yes, its all very similar for what i have seen, the circuits of the covington, fryer and cornish (supposedly), the same values in all minus the input cap (the usual variation, insert your preference here), the strange low value resist of the output of the fryer ( 560) and the 120 k on the output of ...

Re: Keeley Katana Clean Boost (layout)
i Have built this boost too, but I am finding hard to bias the two transistors, once adjusted to 9 v the voltages begin to drift down, I am getting good 18v out of the 7660s and I have replaced the 5458s for others and its keep failing....

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Ok, thanks, I was thinking that the most convenient thing to do is to make the bias asjust with a pot, and put it in the outside with de others controls like in the ng3 version...any posible cons to it? More noise? Its something that I always think, that using a pot instead of a good metal resistor ...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Thank you very much Andy, and what about the noise? Its a silent pedal? The layout is critical for low noise??
