Re: Cusack Tap A Whirl
I have a couple of cusack pedals and they're surface mount but agree with this being a very nice design, it's not even new - Cusack have been making tap tempo tremolo pedals for years!

Re: Simulating guitar speakers
Hi jimbob_400, Short answer, don't make something needlessly complex when it is not. Just use a circuit that dramatically cuts frequencies outside of the bandwidth of a guitar and it will be close enough. IMO, all that tripe about speaker breakup,, never failing to add every kind of teckninal sound...

If they're actually frying check the pinout. Also check resistor values, orientation of diodes and that you've done the layout correctly.Yitz wrote:replaced the BS170 with a new, carefully handled one. Exact same result.

Re: SHO Booster - crackles then cuts out
hmmm...ok. So how would I test either, with a multimeter? I've wondered if it's my weird combo of Zener diodes...can you say for certain that it's not? Cuz I'd love to shelve that worry. Diodes are a PITA to get in my neck of the woods. thanks so much! The diodes should be fine, they are just for s...

You've probably either killed the MOSFET with static or you've got a dodgy volume pot

Simulating guitar speakers
How easy or hard is it? My main problem is that they are mechanical devices and so they can't be simulated on a computer with a program so easily. The manafactures post a frequency response curve on their websites most of the time and so this would need to be replicated and then tweaked. There are t...

I'm in Montreal, Quebec. Did you bail on the Deluxe? I'd like to build a Marshall someday. Where are you? :D When I asked where are you I was more - where are you with your build, more like - how far you are with it :D It's my poor English, I'm sorry mate I'm still waiting for more parts to come, I...

Hey all, If i take this. http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/PedalHacker/LooperWithFeedbackLoop.gif remove the SPDT, and change the 3PDT to a momentary, do I have a Chk chk Boom? What makes some feedback loopers fade out instead of cut off when the switch is released? Thanks in advance! Dobo not q...

Re: Where can I find a knob like this?
have you tried searching around for acoustic guitar knobs?
I also have a Taylor acoustic/electric with these knobs on and was thinking the same a while ago. They're quite attractive and you're right, would be hard to bump with your feet

Re: Rangemaster cap question (Madbean RM)
Hey all, Quick question. I put together a mad bean Rangemaster with an OC 44 I bought from small bear. It calls for sprague atom electro caps. I didnt have any of these and it says that only the 47uF caps HAVE to be electro. So I used regular axial electro caps from my local electronics store (Norv...

or just use my output buffer suggestion but use the transistor to increase the gain of the signal a bit to compensate for the tone stack.

Re: DOD250: adding a tone control
I'm still really enjoying messing around with my DOD250. I've been reading about tone stacks on pages like this: http://amps.zugster.net/articles/tone-stacks and http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/BigMuffToneControl/ But, being a noob, I can't really grasp how I would add a tone control to the 25...

2N5457s will work just fine! Good luck.ChristoMephisto wrote:That's perfect!! Wasn't sure about leaving the 10k resistor in or not
Went to go dig out some J201s i thought i had, they were BS170, and found a couple 2N5457
Might try those and order a few J201s

Re: Fetzer Valve in a OD1 clone?
Here's a link to the OD1, pretty much like the SD1/TS http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/od1-overdrive.php So I can basically replace R7 on the OD1 with the Fetzer from the 33k input resistor to the 47n cap at the end? I get the idea of the 10uf cap, at the input of the Fetzer part? Ahh okay, ...

Re: Fetzer Valve in a OD1 clone?
I'm not quite sure what you're saying in places. After the clipping section/feedback loop part of the circuit insert a 10uF DC block cap, insert your fetzer valve leaving out the volume control. From the 47n cap carry on the circuit to output buffer.

Re: Ringing sound from Laney VC30
Guys it's definitely not the valves, I know what a dying valve sounds like and have had plenty of experience with micro phonic valves. I tried another VC30 today and it had the exact same problem as my own. I think it's down to the circuit design which is a shame... The next problem is that now my o...

Uh?! Excuse my questions if you've already answered above and I didn't get you right: - Is it coming from the speaker, I mean is the ringing added to your sound and played by the speaker? Sorry if anything was unclear  No it is not coming from the speaker, I have tried two separate speakers a...

Ringing sound from Laney VC30
I've got this problem with a VC30 that whenever I play a high G on the e string (or a g anywhere else, but it's most noticeable here) I get a very high ringing harmonic. Now it's not the valves, double checked all of them by swapping in and out working valves, and it's not the speaker. I've got the ...
