Boss/Visual sound potentiometer info!
Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knows of eagle libraries for those pots? Ill re-design my layouts and would be cool to give'em a try! I´m guessing they are 9mm pots, like this ones http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=1139 If I don't find any, I will have to make'em myself hehe, but for ti...

Re: Visual sound Son of hyde
Mhh, there's a CD4049! Must be for R.G's Bypass system using momentary a switch, and 4053! I have been tempted in the past to use this for some of my stuff, now, I am more tempted than ever

Re: Tech21 Character Series: anybody cracked one open yet? [schematic]
The Cabsim bypass is not such. When bypassed, you get a treble roll-off... which is the opposite of what you should have (cab sims cut treble, therefore bypassing it, should increase the hi end, not decrease it). Now, is an useful feature anyways, since the input of any amp will have much more trebl...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund) [traced]
Did you take the tolerances of the different capacitors into effect before conducting the study? That's probably what you were hearing more so than the material. WIMA's have shitty tolerances from what I can remember so those babies could be all over the place value wise. Especially with a 30 cap c...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund) [traced]
Well, another thing is that my Bass Overdrive is a "cascaded stage" circuit, I have 3 gain stages (Jfets, then Opamps, then Cmos) so filtering between stages is quite critical in the sound... that´s why I think my circuit could be more sensitive to caps type than a clipping diodes one, whe...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund) [traced]
I thought if tolerances, but if were that the case, then all of the 6 should have sounded different. And as far as we could tell, both made with ceramics sounded quite alike (at least I couldn't find any difference) I had done about 20 before the experiment with those yellow box film caps from mouse...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund) [traced]
Do you guys know what brand of caps are used in this circuit? It doesn't matter what kind of caps are used - as long as you have the same value , you'll get the same sound . Remember - all you read on TGP is complete bullsh*t - they wouldn't be able to distinguish one effect from another if they co...

Dirk - I did some of the designs of the early Elektor PCBs! There was a definitive "house" style that had to be followed. Somewhere here, I have the original design briefs for board layouts. One thing that Elektor demanded was a PCB layout for every published circuit They banned Veroboard...

Re: Zvex - Woolly Mammoth [traced]
I made a different version of this Fuzz. I used another (probably older schem) with a useless tone control, so "re-designed" it and added a big muff tonestack... I really liked it, since it gives a lot of versatility... with the tone at the center, there's a mid scoop... at minimun treble ...

Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [traced]
The only reason that comes to my head is to rise the cutoff freq of the HPF formed with the 220n cap... perhaps it had too much low end and reducing that Res improved that... I don't know if it would also have a benefit with the FET itself...

Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [traced]
I think a good way of giving "them" a taste of their own medicine is to build reliable and quality pedals and sell them to the price you consider fair... the rest is just talk that won't change anything... I bet 99% of the people who is willing to pay for a MP pedal don't really care about...

Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [traced]
Do these look like the parts to a muff? Pretty much, yes. Not a Triangle, though, as the input resister is way too high. Thanks guys, I was just thinking about this today and wondering why $300.00 plus? No reason at all. "Design" costs? The reason is "Because people keep paying the a...

Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [traced]
Before someone butches me virtually :D, I'd like to add that I am not defending anyone, I'm just explaining why I know the retail prices of something handmade in Finland are higher than if the same thing would be made in USA. It´s just because is more (much more) expensive to build. I am willing to ...

Thanks guys, I was just thinking about this today and wondering why $300.00 plus? No reason at all. "Design" costs? Perhaps $200 if he laid out a new PCB and spent an hour or two tweaking components - perhaps one evening's work - and that's if he has a high opinion of his own self-worth. ...
