Re: New DIY project in the works - Ampeg B-50R bass preamp

Well, I've made a couple of mistakes so far. The first was easy to correct. When I did the layout for the preamp board I grabbed the wrong graphic for the IC (TL074 is DIP14 - I used a 16 pin template). I also ordered a 16 pin IC socket instead of the required 14 pin. I corrected the layout last nig...

Re: New DIY project in the works - Ampeg B-50R bass preamp

Hello ! Got a B50R too. Nice amp to start with but with a lot to be desire. I actually put a switched jack on the speaker to use with others amps, the cab is nice. Put aside this preamp and build an acoustic 360, way way way better Tom Thanks Tom :) I have a friend who uses an Acoustic 360 - nice a...

New DIY project in the works - Ampeg B-50R bass preamp

Hello all, I've been out of circulation for a while. I've had precious little free time as of late and, feeling somewhat better (recently diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis), I've been spending more and more free time playing and less time breathing solder fumes. It's been good! I was starting to bu...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]

I dont reacall seeing it earlier but did anyone have sound clips of their build? I hadn't posted this here before now. I recorded this clip shortly after completing my build (modified version detailed on page 9 of this thread - 5mm red LED's for clippers, ditched the treble trimmer for an externall...

Re: Lovepedal - Eternity [traced]

Thanks for the perf layout Deaj! Very nice lead pedal. Sounds very similar to my diodeless KOT but a little fatter and more sustain. I find unity volume at 1:00 - 2:00. Anyone else? Also pretty noisy with gain past 1:00 500kA vol. 500kA Gain 2kB tone 4X 1n914 sym .22 instead of .15 LM1458. Hit it w...

Thanks for the quick reply. :) I'm just starting to mess with this circuit - so far I like it.

CMATMods - Brownie

Hello all,

I know the Brownie is a slightly modded BSIAB2. Just wondering if anyone here knows what the differences are between the BSIAB2 and the CMATMODS Brownie.

Thanks!

I found that a reverse audio taper works very well.

Re: YATS Overdrive (CJOD Lite)

Thanks for sharing your excellent layouts! How does the YATS sound compared to your Eternity build with LEDs. You're welcome! :) The two sound quite different. I would say that this circuit sounds 'thicker' than the Eternity w/LED clippers. It has a lot more gain on tap. Both sound compressed (as a...

Re: YATS Overdrive (CJOD Lite)

Noob question: :D I'm getting high frequency oscillation when the tone control is at full CW and the gain is set anywhere above 1 o'clock or so. Can a sloppy breadboard build cause this kind of a thing with a high gain circuit? Briggs - did you have this issue with your breadboard build? Thanks! Th...

Re: YATS Overdrive (CJOD Lite)

Hey there Deaj, when the CJOD scheme came out I whipped this up on breadboard: http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.com/2008/03/son-of-clay-jones-overdrive.html Looks just about the same, give or take a few cap values. It is a nice sounding TS derivative. The input and output buffers do nothing for the s...

YATS Overdrive (CJOD Lite)

For those of you who can't get enough Tube Screamer I present the YATS Overdrive (Yet Another Tube Screamer). This project takes the CJOD mods and applies them to the Jack Orman Son Of Screamer circuit topology - CJOD Lite. :D I tested this project on a breadboard - it works and it sounds just like ...

Thank you Deaj! Those layout you made there look excellent and very easy to follow :applause: You're quite welcome. :) The real credit goes to 'Lovepedal Detective' however. My perf-board layout is a near part for part adaptation taken directly from his vero-board layouts. BTW: You can use these la...

Re: Clock of Tone 50 - Modified COT50

I've had some time to play with this circuit since building it and I have some observations to share. It's very similar to the COT-50 blue. With 1N270 Ge diodes its a little closer to unity gain when compared to the COT-50 and has a bit more low end / more balanced EQ. It also clips the signal a bit...

Re: Son Of Screamer vero layout

You should be able to adapt one directly from the vero layouts posted in the Lovepedal Eternity thread in the Boutique Stompboxes dissected section. The Eternity is a Son Of Screamer in circuit topology.
