Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
finally found the time to change the caps. C8 changed to 39nano and C9 to 47nano, less middy now. I think I could get the mids that I want with 56nano but I ran out of caps. may be will change it again next time i have the time. again the desoldering on this board is frustrating, i got myself 2 new ...

Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
Yeah, its that funky lead free [or whatever it is] solder that they use. I did several mods to mine already, one was to was add a three way on /none/on switch with 3 assymetrical 1n4148's /no diodes/ 2 1n4148's. I prefer the silicones to the leds in this thing, and actually no diodes sounds close eno...

A few BOSS pedal problem DS1 & HM2
A friend who runs a rehearsal studio just dropped off a couple of DS1 and a HM2. The newer DS1 is healthy but the 2 old pedals which needs ACA adaptors are acting up. I'm pretty sure these 2 were used with a variety of AC adaptors which i suspect is causing the problem. Also they are quite old and n...

Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
I hope your using solder wick and not a sucker! Its not too difficult with a wick. I'm bookmarking this topic as I'd like to hear more about mods for the Joyo crunch box. :secret: i had to use both :( , solder wick didn't clean up the holes. i actually had to pull the legs off the IC socket and sol...

Ibanez TSA5 - 5W Tube Screamer Amp
Got this at a good price during sale. I read its based on the Champ? using it at home for practice, nice basic sound from 1 Vol and 1 Tone. The TS circuit is a bonus but i rarely used it since i i'm running pedals. it stopped working a few days ago and at the dealer right now to get it fixed. i didn...

Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
Simmed the tonestack with LT Spice and the Tone and Presence interact a lot. The Tone control has the greatest effect with the Presence altering the roll off slop. For the least mid-range, try the Presence trim pot about midway. Might increase the cap in the presence control, to 47n for more action...

Joyo - JF-39 Deluxe Crunch
Picked this up last week, have not played much with it unfortunately. More than enough gain but i find that i'm wanting more from the Pre and Tone. This sounds more open than Joyo's Crunch (crunch more compressed to my ears). I stack overdrive pedals in front of it to make it tighter. Cracked it ope...

Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
Error,,C9+jumper ????? excuse my noobness but i don't see this in the JOYO schem. doesn't that mean its connected to ground? also i did a side by side comparison of the 2 schem provided above and it's not a direct copy in terms of part values. like i've said, i've built a crunchbox before and it so...

Re: JOYO Crunch Distortion Schematic [schematic]
Thanks for the trace and schematic, was going to do it myself but didn't realise it was a 3 layer board, you just saved me a lot of heartache. Just got it used but found that it had too much MID for my taste. the crunch box was one of my first build and i remember it not being middy. the schem will ...

Re: hand painting w/ brush and acrylic paint
Turned out good! White lettering on blue works. How about using stencil next time for lettering? ...tedious though.
second box look cool too. is that gold acrylic?

looks cool and maybe faster than spraypaint if you have a bunch of boxes to finish at once. will give a try, thanks for the idea!

Right, thanks. Farnell returns HF3 93S by axicom, doubt i'll get it because the price is just too silly for me. have to wait for the next trip to the big store then. cheers!
