Re: Tim Escobedo's circuit snippets and their usage

It’s really tough to make any money building pedals when you factor in labor. You really need to get the cost of materials down to the minimum and your build process as streamlined as possible. In just do this on the weekends for fun and order small numbers for parts. I keep myself and band mates in...

Re: Tim Escobedo's circuit snippets and their usage

I contacted Tim E. about selling some pedals from one of his circuits about 10 years ago here’s what he said: I do have a policy that has worked out well for several short runs by other makers. For commercial use, I generally charge a licensing fee for each unit. For a run of 25 units or under, the ...

Re: Snarling dogs - Mold spore

I know this is an old thread but, I thought I would add this just for the record. I have a mold spore wah and I just blew up a third MAX1044. Every time it has broken it's been the MAX1044. Not sure what did it the first time. The last two times I was using a One Spot power supply. Yesterday I had j...

Re: Wyllie Moonrock [traced]

I think c3 goes to ground. No, I traced that part, it doesn't go to ground. It should, but it also really shouldn't matter all that much since it blocks DC. Any steady reference should behave the same. I suspect it may have been easier to route it there on the board than to ground. EDIT: V, I meant...

Re: Wyllie Moonrock [traced]

Not sure, could be, it's got the transformer. But, it looks like only one side of the transformer is in use as an inductor. It's got a lot of diode pairs. Here's my latest layout. A lot of the values are still missing and there's bound to be some errors still. I'm trying to put together a rough sche...

Re: Wyllie Moonrock [traced]

You should look up Wyllie. He's the original DIY stompbox guy. He had been making these things for years. He makes the enclosures himself. I get impression he lived in a shack in the woods with a dog and solder iron. Supposedly all of the circuits are original. Sadly he passed away recently so you c...

Wyllie Moonrock [traced]

Here are some pictures of the Wyllie Moonrock. I started trying to reverse this. There are some pictures over at TheGearPage, here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?p=18405704#post18405704 Here are some images I made in photoshop. This picture tries to show the top, which hopefully al...

Re: Zvex - Machine

I built this version and it works pretty well. it's a year or more later and I'm realizing that this has an extra pot. The original doesn't use this pot. I'm also realizing that the response of the Gain pots is all in the last 25% of the travel. I'm not convinced the second gain pot has that great a...

Re: SCRAMBLER!

I just built one of these, it worked right off. I used MPSA13 for all of the transistors. With the mix knob all the way to one side I get a clean unity signal. With the mix all the way to the other side I get an octave fuzz but the signal is considerably lower. Any suggestions on bringing up the gai...

Re: Lovepedal - Purple Plexi 800 [goop-alarm] [traced]

While reading this thread I noticed that people were saying the gain control only worked for the last 10% of the travel. Has anyone tried a reverse audio taper C1K pot?

Re: Catalinbread Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer [traced]

Measuring pin 2 of the XR2206, it seems to be cycling from about 3.5V to 4V. At pins 1 and 7 of the op-amp I see a constant 3.8V. Question: Does the output of XR2206 seem about right? If so then there must be some problem in the connection between pin 2 of the XR2206 and the op-amp, would that seem ...

Comparing the Schematic posted earlier the Sabrotone layout seems to switch the op-amp pins, IC1a and IC1b are swapped.

Re: Catalinbread Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer [traced]

I just built one of these from Sabrotones vero layout posted here. It passes a signal. Though it's a little distorted, sounds like the mu amps are working. But, there's no phasing or modulation. The LEDs are lit, but don't pulse. I'm guessing the XR2206 is not modulating. Anyone got any suggestions ...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

Here's my version of the Tonebender MK II I used the biggest goofiest case I could find on Ebay. There's no mojo parts, even the transistors are average pnp germanium. Transistors used are TUNGSRAM ac128 (66hfe, leak: .160mA) Q1, Russian 1t308B (79hfe , leak: .000mA) Q2, and lastly a NTE158 (120hfe...

Hi, I'm going to build one of these for myself very soon, Using this layout: Just wondering how I would add the switch to use the SHO only. I'm bit of a n000b, so if someone could show me on this layout, I'd much appreciate it :-) Cheers, J [ Image ] I just built up this layout. Worked the first tr...

Re: Sola Sound - Tone Bender Mark I (1965) [schematic]

I just built one of these on the breadboard. Fired up the first try. I used some random AC128s. All of the transistors seem to measure in the 90 to 100 hfe range. Not sure about leakage. Will have to experiment more and see if different transistors make a difference. I built his from the Hurst schem...
