Someone with graphic design background could probably tell exactly what it is.
My obscure skill set is finally of use!
The Sizzle Tone font is Davida from 1965.
Bonus trivia: That Big Muff font is older than you'd think but had a revival through Art Nouveau.

Re: What are the purpose of multiple transistors ?????

Have you noticed that single-channel, "clean" tube amps usually use two triodes while distorted channels need 4 or more? Do you know why that is?

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

See, I think the secret of vintage tube amp tone lies in the mains cable! I just swapped the cord on an Epiphone Valve Junior with a Black Rhodium Fusion and the difference is DRAMATIC: - sound is overall more focused and Hi-Fi - warm, haunting mids - fragile harmonics survive better Are you going t...

he doesn't need to be shown how a test could be done How do you know that? And why doth he protest such at the request for proof in an age when everyone has a smartphone? I think anything to do with the sound of a piece of equipment is a 100% aesthetic discussion and nothing to do with the technica...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]

The formula is fc = 1/(2πRC) as usual, where R is the gain pot + the 1K or 100K "high gain" resistor. You can use a calculator like electricdruid's.

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

I consider it already a well-established fact that different capacitors distort the sound in a way that can be heard. Do you hear any difference in the clips from my test? It's a fact that different kinds of capacitors can distort the sound in different ways. The "can be heard" part can't be factua...

Well then why would anyone be interested in trying it out? Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

I thought your whole point was that caps don't make any difference in the sound, regardless of circuit? Can you find a post where I said that? If Joe Rando tells me he's an astronaut, when I ask for proof it doesn't mean I don't believe astronauts exist. It's just that so far I've met a whole lot m...

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

Remember, one of the claims was "the most important capacitor to change in ANY tube guitar amplifier is the output coupling capacitor connected to the plate of the tube performing the very first stage of amplification", so plate impedance (and voltage) or you risk "missing the point". I think there'...

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

I've said that your theory is most probably an ideal capacitor one It's not. I have access to IEEE Xplore just like everyone else. you have the basic picture, but you lack the details. And it's precisely what may sound different to well-trained ears. Yes, that's exactly what I said: no picture/theo...

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

taking everything into account is just impossible. This kind of reasoning is consubstantial with the God of the gaps : The more we know about a thing, the less room for magic is left. But surely we can't know eVeRyThInG about capacitors, so the hidden mojo variables can still be hiding somewhere , ...

It feels pointless to ask at this point, but do you sincerely not understand that this is about the limits of human brains and not ears? Do you understand that perception is modulated by expectation? Do you understand why test blinding was invented?

Re: Stereo overdrive

why would you need the overdrive before the reverb to be stereo? The way I read it it would be before the Iridium but after "stereo effects" like reverb. But here's the kicker: as far as I can tell the Mod Station is not even stereo! in that case the pedal couldn't handle stereo effects before it O...

Hi. I needed it to handle stereo in order to use the Strymon Iridium (amp+cab simulator).
Echoing Ripthorn's questions: are you planning to use it after the Iridium?!

Re: Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker and Distortion Mods?

Hello! I'd say buy a handful of parts and build a DS-1 from scratch, you'll learn more that way. Even better, get a breadboard so you can easily try out "mods". If you leave out the buffers and switching it's a simple schematic and ElectroSmash has a nice breakdown on how it works: https://www.elect...

Way to leave a guy without excuses to procrastinate! :D
I'm actually working on a hybrid (Blackstar HT style) SLO preamp so I'll probably do that one instead. There's some info about its current state in this log, under "Tube Boomer".
Maybe mkenny17 will tackle it if going for KiCad as well.

Atheism is religion.
Aaaand you've disqualified yourself from grown-up discussion. So I was right, the issue was you're just fighting a straw man, born from an incorrect definition/vision of skepticism.
