Re: Budda Chakra Compressor [schematic]

Dark resistance in circuit was c. 250k. But any other parameters (like on and off times) I've no idea. I would guess, like most circuits that use an optocoupler, one would have to plug in different types of LDR or vactrol to find something that works. BTW the circuit reminded me of Rod Elliott's com...

Budda - Chakra Compressor [schematic]

First optical compressor I've used and a nice change from DynaComp type I've only previously experienced. Also first attempt at publishing a full circuit trace; hopefully it's right.

Re: Ibanez ES 2 Echo Shifter

I'd say that's a little too much credit. Multiple BBD's in cascade is as old as BBD's emselves. Ah, I should have thought of the Memory Man :slap: It seems quite nice, I think, that in this delay each BBD has its own clock generator. (Like in Maxon delays for instance). [Because in the diy dual BBD...

Re: Help w/ Joyo Ultimate Octave

This is all excellent advice above, but I can only speak from my own experience - and I'm reasonably confident in my soldering ability and I'd worked out all the suggested techniques above over a few years already. I only use standard Antex soldering irons at the moment, not a temperature controlled...

Re: Phase 95

Established? Yes Closed-off? I don't think so I don't think about people at madbean as a 'gang' I would describe it as a community, and an open one. That was just the vibe I got, as I said. I'm happy to be wrong about that. I appreciate the schematics and pdf files that Madbean makes freely availab...

Re: Phase 95

Just read my last post there again, and I think it could be misconstrued... So just to make things clear: I don't know Madbean and am not part of the group over at his forum so couldn't suggest the idea to him. Or the others there that are designing PCBs with Eagle etc - there seemed to be quite a f...

Re: Phase 95

I thought I love my Phase 90, but this is better! Definitely worth a quality pcb. Madbean? :secret: Thanks man - missed your comment before. I don't really know Madbean (Brian) myself - I've only spoke to him by email once or twice in relation to a board I got from him that had a slight issue (manu...

Re: Phase 95

As Smacko Jack asked. Final schematic to follow (once I find the time to scribble it down). But you can ignore what I said above about the phaser sounding discordant with depth up full - in the built pedal that isn't the case at all (and no limiting resistor). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5EoThe...

Re: Phase 95

Forgot to say: I've used single opamps for the (audio) input buffer, the LFO, and the LFO buffer. The rail splitter and phase stages are dual opamps. A cheap, junky type can be used for the rail splitter (the 4558 for instance). I would choose better a type for the phase stages (I've got 4559 in the...

Re: Phase 95

Roseblood11's post got me thinking - and I was able to find time to try a couple of changes to the above circuit over the past week. Again any suggestions or constructive criticism is welcome. My 'version 2' prototype. It will just about fit in a big-fat Hammond 1590XX: https://jvg13.files.wordpress...

Re: EH Echoflanger [schematic]

We could run 2 x MN3007 in parallel multiplex... but why bother, parallel multiplex improves the sampling, the 3007 is already a better chip and should theoretically at least, be equal to a SAD1024 in parallel multiplex. Hi Scruffie, any advice on how to go about getting a pair of 3007s to run in p...

Re: Phase 95

Thanks for the nice comments Smacko Jack and Roseblood11. I am pretty happy with the sound of this thing. I think it has a nice 'throb' and gets that 'dreamy' sound... I guess those are my preferences for a phaser. I’ve built a UniVibe, but think this thing will be my usual phaser now. Obviously tha...

hello, everyone. i bought the joyo voodoo octave to preform this mod after i ran into this thread. this would have been my first ever mod. i went to radio shack to get the soldering iron (30 watt), solder, and a removal braid. this went terrible!!!! it tool forever to get the caps out and when i di...

Re: Orange Micro Terror

Well, I was sure they're using these fancy combined valves - you know triode/pentode in one glass. I'm kind of disappointed from designing point of view Bland mass production, established formulae or expectations and marketing yadda yadda :D I may be wrong, but I don't think the combined valves lik...

Re: Orange Micro Terror

I like the Micro Terror. It gives a good classic crunch at bedroom volumes and at higher volumes does an excellent job of giving a classic rock growl. It lacks low end and no matter what you do with the tone it has alot of mids, but that is what gives it that classic rock Orange tone. As always, th...

Re: Orange Micro Terror

Cant see anything that looks like a SMPS. So what B+ is the tube using? SMPS is a seperate psu. Prob just a brick like supplied with laptops. Says 15v dc on rear of amp I think. Sta540 looks like it runs off a single DC supply, anywhere between 8 to 22v(?). Can only see a single voltage reg in micr...

Re: Help w/ Joyo Ultimate Octave

I'd think best practice would be to put new ones in. Me too. To make life easy I'd pull the old ones and replace with new, non-polarised electrolytic capacitors. Yeah but 10uF isn't gonna fit the bill. :) You can get 10uf aluminium electrolytic bipolar / nonpolarised capacitors, intended for things...
