Re: Wampler Ecstasy [traced]
Hi, is there any advantage to tying the hard clipping diodes after the first opamp stage to 1/2V (Vref) instead of ground? Does this affect the distortion in a different way? The circuit is DC coupled between the two op-amp stages, which means the signal is biased around Vref. Hard clipping here mu...

UK: METAL WAH Enclosure w/ Hot Potz I COPY.
Hi All, I'm selling my wah enclosure. It's just been gathering dust, and it may as well go to someone who will use it! It was used about 3 times before I took the PCB for another project, then it became a distortion pedal for a while, hence the two holes drilled on the front. The pot included is a H...

Replace output transformer with resistor?
Hey guys. Had an idea there recently while replacing an output transformer for the Epiphone Valve Junior. The owner wanted a load box with a line-out tap installed too, so no speaker would be required. I got to thinking.. could the output transformer not have been replaced with a 5k resistor (thats ...

Re: Fet version of the JCM800
This looks like an incredible project.
has anybody created a single sided pcb version? also what sort of current drain does this have? for finding a transformer.

JCM800 Preamp Clone - Wierd Distortion (oscilloscope pics)
Hi, I'm experiencing a strange distortion on this preamp. It looks like asymmetrical hard clipping..very harsh sounding; especially when boosted, so I decided to investigate. All scoping was done using a 440Hz Sine wave. V1a (gain stage 1) is perfectly fine, no distortion. A little bit of compressio...

Re: 12AX7 Preamp fizzing problems
Thanks for your advice, I took a similar approach with my jamman. It was a dodgy coupling cap, also the valve was playing a part in it too. both were replaced and all is well!

12AX7 Preamp fizzing problems
Hi, I've converted my windsor pre-amp into JCM800 2203 specs and im noticing its quite fizzy. without being driven the fizz is triggered by most notes on the fretboard, except really high ones on the thin e string. the fizz isnt overdrive, it is the same note/tone no matter what is struck. I have li...

Re: Adding Clean Channel to Peavey Windsor
I've actually found something that might be the problem. When I turn the presence knob, nothing happens except a bunch of strange, cloudy noise. I need to check the board again :hmmm: I'm getting a similar problem to this, I've checked everything. The presence knob seems to crackle and add a lot of...
