Re: Mesa Boogie Throttle Box schematics [schematic]

Zero Ohm resistor - Yes , There is such a thing ! - Just don't ask Me why.
It looks like a resistor with a single black band.
I think they are sometimes used for test points - Where it's easier to quickly see a blank resistor than a wire link.

Re: 2N929

I was just directing You to the list of substitutions.
I looked around for a couple of them But , They ALL seem to be fairly obscure ( and expensive ).

Apart from Hfe - The spec sheets won't really indicate any 'sonic' characteristics as such.
Which circuit are You using them in ?

Hey Man , Take a look here - http://alltransistors.com/crsearch.php?mat=Si&struct=NPN&pc=0.3&ucb=45&uce=45&ueb=5&ic=0.05&tj=200&ft=30&cc=6&hfe=40&caps=TO18 They list over 40 potential substitutes , So I would imagine there would have to be something fairly...

It's a clone of something , Yeah ? ( Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive perhaps ? ).
I reckon a Schematic for the original would offer a few clues - Should be one kicking around in here somewhere.
Had to search for Mathew Stevens , As I was unfamiliar - Cool stuff ! - Gonna check out some more.

Re: Aria AOD-1 / Axe MOD-7 with CXA45586L01

If You feel like reading some theory , Do a search for something like ' Symmetric vs Asymmetric clipping ' or something along those lines. Also RG Keens 'technology of the Tubescreamer ' article at Geofex explains just about every detail of the circuitry involved here. Anyway , So diodes 3, 4 and 5 ...

Re: Aria AOD-1 / Axe MOD-7 with CXA45586L01

You're probably correct in assuming that diodes 3,4 and 5 are the clipping diodes. I don't have that exact overdrive pedal - But , I think most of the Aria overdrives are Tubescreamer variations. If this is the case - You could follow the tracks to see if those diodes are between pins 1+2 OR 6+7 of ...

I was going to ask if there had been any developments.

Re: score one hen's tooth!!! maestro r&s

Ooh , So envious right now !
I've only ever seen 2 of them and they were both completely beyond My means at the time.

I often look at segments of the schematic and wonder if little 'modules' are do-able.
Might be time to buy that really big breadboard and cook up another power supply.

Well that makes a whole lot of sense !
I remember breadboarding this and thinking I must have had it wrong.
At one point I thought I was onto something cool But , Then couldn't replicate it again later.
And ofcourse I wasn't smart enough to work out what had happened.
Thankyou ( again ).

Re: Boss GE-7 Mods

Sadcadaver , I reckon You should have a go at fixing it first - You just might learn a thing or two along the way. Print out the schematic , Look at where the power enters the cct - Check the polarity protection diode and the power supply filter caps. Are the op-amps seeing any voltage ? - If not , ...

Hey jonasx26, Yeah - That's the one. I had no idea it was at GGG. It's an interesting project from a theoretical perspective But , would need a lot of work to be musically useful. I can't quite explain it But, there is a certain timbral characteristic that it shares with the Schumann ( the result of...

Re: Schumann PLL [traced]

I've seen a bunch of the Youtube clips for this thing.
Certain settings sound a hell of a lot like a cheesy mini-synth thing that was in Electronics Australia magazine in the early 80's.
I killed mine But , I may still have the documentation somewhere.

Hey , It was just a timely coincidence that I found myself in a house with a 505 ( and..happened to be packing a multi-meter ). I'm looking over a couple of amps for the owner , He said can drop it around later in the week. Good job finding the regulator - That's the hard part over with. I've only b...

I took a peek inside a friends 505 - Yep , Same regulator. Measured 9.26 , 4.99, Gnd , 5.01 from left to right with the board face up ( the side with the display ). I would have guessed that DSP stuff would require 5V. I can probably borrow it , If You need to know more - I reckon it's only the soft...
